I have two both primarily for media centers. Tons of movies on a network storage device and the XBOX is great for watching them. The Wii has a media center that can do SAMBA shares as well but it isnt as pretty as the XBOX yet. I wonder if there is a way to port XBMC to the Wii...
I have a few hooked up, too. I put 80 to 120gb drives in them for games but mostly they make good UPnP clients. I run tversity and transcode and collect videos - that's my real hobby this wii stuff is more for my kids
I'll have to check out the SMB client for the wii - I've been searching for a UPnP client but haven't found one yet. It would be way nice to have an XBMC channel for the wii.
I'd also like to add that along with the newest build of XBMC, certain 720p xvids play perfectly fine--I've tested XVID scene releases by NPW, LaR, FLAWL3SS, ViSiON and they work awesome! some compression artifacting, but otherwise awesome!
high quality pixel shader v2 works great as long as you press the white button over the file and select 'play file using' > dvdplayer
I'm a regular over at the XBMC forums. I have a 1.6 Xbox with the "Patched" build of XBMC for xbox allowing "Media Flagging" for video files. It has a 300 Gb HDD internal and a 1Tb NAS. 800+ Movie library and 80+ TV Seasons. 1000's of hours of Music.
Right now I am working on a "revamped" PMIII skin that has Media Flagging, Library info on the Home Screen....and a few other things, but taking a break( for a week or so) to get everything going on my Wii.
I got my xbox pimped out with films, UFC Events, Wrestling shows and everything else, its great for when im laying in bed on a lazy weekend and just feel like watching somthing, I also have all the old emulators and roms and xbox games on it too, best thing I ever got!
And I missed the xbox first time around so its all new to me!
