Fixing RRoD (flash or no flash)

K...

So I have my repair kit and and I'm ready to de-xclamp my 360.... while I have it apart it is smart to flash the drive or ?? Or do I wait for the x360key or do both..... luckily I have a desktop that I can use to flash drives no sata card needed.... my only thing is powering the drive while flashing.... do I need to worry about powering the drive with the 360 or with another source??? What is the best way with the tills I got at home.... not buying anything.... lol

Use your 360 to power the drive,but make sure the AV cables in the back of the 360,otherwise it may power off while writing to the banks.You can flash the drive while its out and bang some artic silver on the cpu/gpu,then if you can, put the clamps back on,if not then use the old screw and washer option.Dont forget if dash on or under 12625 then use the pre ofw first for your drive to go to stock,then if your clamps or clamp kit is on and sorted your problem,update dash,then flash to 1.91,then slap it all back together and away you go.Make sure HDD/memcard is plugged into the side/front of the 360 when updating dash.Lastly while at stock fw save the key/ofw ready to slap on the xkey if you buy 1.

I don't know what dash its on.... I was just gonna flash the 1.9 to it...

You can power the drive via the XBox 360. The funny thing is, the Jungle Flasher manual tells you this is completely acceptable, and then another tutorial from them also cautions you the drive not being connected is reported to the OS and can (potentially) result in a ban down the road. I did it via this method and a check of SecData shows no information as being reported in terms of being flagged. You do need the video attached to the TV, as otherwise it'll power itself off (I forget, but I think there's a 5 minute window).

Secdata?? And yeah I thought I saw somewhere that is a ban possible.... but at 100 bucks to replace is not that bad.... and I don't even have live.....lol

If you don't use Live, a non-issue. I have since (but not latest dash, I think two dashes ago and it was still fine).

i think i have a hardware problem and not worth anymore time into it....

Stripped it down removed X-Clamp and fired it back on and same 3 RRoD.... so im thinking its not the overheating!!!

Unless you got any other ideas THIS IS LOOKIN GOOD

Ran out??? a tube should do 3-4 xboxs.. If you use too much it wont work.. also if it spreads onto the mini chips on the cpu and gpu boards.. its conductive.
