looks like it can be copied to the hdd, but not run
Sorry guys there is no software only for jtagging the USB I think may be for NAND x which is easier to use and install compared to the first version with involved wires and diodes and resistors plus use of a lpt port, NAND x comes with the quick solder boards so it does make it easier but still tricky.
There is no way to flash a drive with just a cd same as there is no way to unban a banned xbox unless it was one of the first banned ones and never been updated. As all DVD drives have to enter vendor mode to be flashed and the key read it's simply impossible to do it via just a cd.
Go here for install guide and more info on NAND x. http://team-xecuter.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=128

Maybe what you saw Emuhack was the Hitachi drive being unlocked with the Slax disk?
And to confirm, no softmod for jtaging a 360 only for dvd drive flashing although its not just softmodding any more because of the need for trace cuts and repair with liteon drives now.
today, it's hard to find a XBox at 7371 or lower, unless it's idled due to 3RRoD.
luckily, i just hv one ! lol
THIS IS THE TUTORIAL I used, or am using, to jtag my Xenon box. One word or caution, if you bridge the U6T1 or U6T2 pads, make sure you only bridge the two that need it.
I wasn't paying attention and bridged all 3 pads and had the RROD, with secondary error code of 0020, until I noticed my goof and fixed it.

My 360 was manufactured in July 2009, so I guess I'm out of luck, no jtag for me.
I've jtagged 3 now (2 jaspers and 1 xenon) and I had no soldering experience prior to this. Just take your time and be careful. I do have some strong recommendations though. Firstly, it is definitely worth your money to buy a USB nand flasher. I made one with an lpt connection, and it took forever to read the nand, and constantly gave me errors. As soon as I used the USB one, no issues. Secondly, I would recommend using xeLLous. If you have any bad blocks in your nand, then they get remapped automatically with xeLLous, whereas it can be a real pain to do it manually. I'll see if I can find the site I used with xeLLous instructions.
if u could provide more abt xeLLous instructions.....
