    Xbox 360 is scratching discs

    Hey everyone,

I recently flashed my xbox, but it seems that it is scratching all of my discs. I keep it horizontal and it stands stable. The discs have a circular scratch on them (a perfect circle).
Off course, I can just burn the game again, but I don't have an unlimited supply of DVD's.
Is there a way to fix this?

No there's no way to fix it. The 360 is known for scratching discs and RROD since its release

I thought they fixed this with the new Xboxes. Are you using one of the old, white consoles? That's impressive. I would have thought they'd all been baked.

Yes, I have an old white one. Anyway, it seems the problem got fixed. My dad took a look at it and noticed that a chip near the laser had a sharp edge. He removed the edge and it solved the problem.

    Yes, you can fix it.

First, read and save your current dvd drive including the keys. Then, hook up the replacement dvd drive, read and save the info including the keys. Flash the replacement drive with the .bin and keys from the original dvd drive. THE DVD DRIVES ARE MARRIED TO THE MOTHERBOARD. YOU MUST WRITE (FLASH) THE REPLACEMENT DRIVE WITH THE INFORMATION (.bin and key) FROM THE ORIGINAL DRIVE. THE DVD DRIVES ARE MARRIED TO THE MOTHERBOARD.

All this is assuming you have or have access to the jungleflasher program and either know how to or know someone that knows how to connect the drive to a pc, read, save, and write to the drives as well.

I would suggest getting a CK-3 Pro connectivity kit and reading the JungleFlasher tutorial. The reason I would suggest a connectivity kit is so you don't get your xbox flagged by M$.

Isn't that strictly related to the Lite-On drives re: CK-3 Pro? I powered my drive via XBox and used a long SATA cable to attach it to my PC (as the simplest work-around for flashing).

From what I understand, flagging can occur with any dvd drive. The only 100% method to avoid this is to use a connectivity kit.

I don't care about flagging. I don't play online and stuff so I don't need to worry about it.
