Yes, u will need to extract the keys for some drives yourself, the keys are needed for the hardware to emulate the drive. I think both Wasabi and xk3y have auto extraction for certain drives but not implemented for others yet.

Oh no! That's not good - I dont want to go out and buy an xbox and find out that I can't mod it!

But eventually xk3y and wasabi will become compatible with the new xboxes, right? (just as 4.3 wiis became "moddable")

Go buy a 2nd hand slim with an older manufacture date on it and you'll be ok.Go to gamestation or similar where you can get a good warranty and you should have no problems.Or secondly buy a cheap fat 360 and flash it for next to nothing espec if its benq/sammy and you can also buy yourself xkey/wasabi (wasabi has auto key extraction built in).Fat 360's just pull the front faceplate off it,under the RH corner of the dvd drive theres a hole,if the wires you see are white or red/black and it runs fine then grab it.Buy a via card if using a pc and a spare 20cm+ sata cable (for both about £15) and your set to flash the 360.Empty some pm's from your inbox and i'll send a link that may interest you.

Thanks for the info skagg, I really appreciate it.

I emptied my inbox so u can send me a pm now

The thing is, I don't really want to flash my drive - I'd rather use xk3y or wasabi (I don't care about paying for it). I also want to play games from my HDD and I don't think that's possible with drive flashing, right?
