CleanRip - New HBC app for ripping discs

CleanRip is a Gamecube and Wii optical disc backup tool for the Nintendo Wii.

The "Clean" in CleanRip comes from the fact that this tool does not require nor utilise any custom IOS (cIOS). It simply requires that you have the latest Homebrew Channel (HBC) installed. Also, if it finds that IOS58 is installed, you will be able to rip discs at USB 2.0 speeds.

    Works for DL and BCA.

Downloads - cleanrip - Project Hosting on Google Code

    Thanks to Zephyr.

You tested this yet John? Is it as good as it looks?

Sorry I haven't tested it. Zephyr has and here are his results, pretty impressive.
Apart from the speed, I like the 'not requiring any cIOS.

    quote
Wii Play to a NTFS partition in just over 13.5min. YES 13.5min. This is quicker than WODE to EXT3 / FAT32 and craps all over WODE to NTFS.

25min to complete SSBB NTFS as a FULL ISO RIP (WODE takes about 23.5min to do a single layer to FAT32/EXT3... For WODE a Dual Layer disc to NTFS takes about 4hrs)

Flawless RIP of NSMB + BCA and played for over 3020min with no issues

Works on HBC 1.0.7 but it rips MUCH slower - but still faster than WODE to NTFS. I stopped after a short while as I could not be bothered waiting but looked like it was going to take about 1hr 20min ish...

My tests have been done on HBC 1.0.8 running from IOS58

That is really something quite special - huge respect to the coders and all who helped make it possible.

Many thanks for posting about it.

So does this mean you only have to have the HBC installed and don't have go through the whole tutorial for the Wii softmod?

Your posting in the wode section. So if you have a wode you don't need a softmod....but the answer to your question is no. It rips games without a cIOS but you can't play them without a cIOS. This app is useful for people that don't want a cIOS on their wii but they want to backup there original discs.
