Exclamation Super Smash Bros. Brawl Failing..

    Hello WiiHacks.com !

My name is Putte and I'd like to receive some help about my WODE.
You see, I use an iOmega 500gb HDD with 3 .iso on it:
Resident Evil 4, Red Steel 2 and Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
RE4 and RS2 works perfectly but not SSBB. I even tried to download a second .iso of it so now I have 2 .iso files of it, 1 @ 4+gb and 1 @ 7,9gb.

The first .iso, 4+gb, gets a "black screen" (eject disk and read the manual blahblah..)
The second .iso, 7.9gb, gets the error "unable to read disk"

Now, could any of you guide me through these problems ? I will provide with more info if needed.

    Sincerely, Putte.

    PS.
    BOOT Ver: 01.01
    WODE Ver: 02.1A
    FPGA Ver: 02.00
    HW Ver: 1

Please make an introductory post as per the rules and have a read of the rules.

If you had read the rules first you would have know that we would like all members to make their first post and hello. I shall help you once I have read your introduction...the sub-forum where you need to make that 'first' post is here.

Yes of course we shall try.

First of all to help you I will need to know a bit more about your WODE set up. Can you post all the settings you have selected. Include the advanced settings too.

Then I will need to know the game region.

And finally your Wii firmware and region.

But I want to stress one thing - the wode plays the SSBB game perfectly IF the game is a perfect 1:1 copy of the original. The games that are downloaded from the WEB are not always perfect copies. Most of the time they have been fixed (so to speak) to enable them to play with a soft modded system. WODE is not a soft modded Wii. It uses your hard drive in place of a DVD drive. So therefore just like a normal Wii the disc (in this case the game image, either a ISO or a wbfs format image) needs to be unmodified, patched or altered. Yes the image can be cleaned using Wiibackupmanager and converted to wbfs game format but that process does not alter the actual game. It removes the blank spaces and if selected the update partition.

Last thing is your Wii softmodded at all?

For you information the correct size of SSBB before converting to wbfs game format is -

    7.92Gb
    8,311,680Kb
    8,511,160,320bytes

Also you might want to try to run the game via your WODE and have update set to on. This is assuming that both the game and your WII are the same region.

Settings: Wii region EUR (Have tried with US also)
Game Patching: Region Patch ON, Updates YES
Wode Settings: Auto Load OFF, Display Title ID, Free Space ON

The 8,311,680Kb file = NTSC, the 4,589,82Kb file = PAL

Wii Firmware = Newest. Region(?) = Sweden

What do you mean by "Softmodded at all?"

    Sincerely, Putteskiten.

If you have a Pal Wii and your Wii firmware is 4.2E then you will not be able to play the NTSC game at all without some kind of softmod. So it is reasonably important to know what your Wii firmware is. Newest = 4.2E = not playing out of region games.

What format is the PAL version, is it a ISO or is it a wbfs game format?

I would suggest based on the fact that you have downloaded both games, and the size of the PAL version that the game image is not a 100% 1:1 copy and therefore will not work with the WODE. The WODE works best with perfect unaltered copies of original games.

    Ah, okay.
The PAL version is .iso format.
So, basically I should download a 1:1 PAL version, right ?
I could try to download some 8,311,680Kb files and see if it helps when they are PAL versions etc.

Thanks for your awesome help btw !

PS. is there Any way to downgrade the Wii version ?

Well actually you should go buy the game. This forum does not condone nor encourage piracy.

As I said the best thing is to get a 1:1 copy, your PAL version can not be a true 1:1 copy as there are just two sizes for Wii games.

With respect to your wanting to downgrade, yes there are ways, BUT do not do it. I really suggest you stop all thoughts of downgrading. if you have a WODE you can install HBC and DVDx and use WODEflow to load out of region games.

I have added a guide how to do so here.
