I am completely new... WHERE DO I START, I dont have a Wii or WODE but have been following the WODE release. If all I do is by a wii and a wode and follow the guide to partition my HD what else do I need to know to make this successful?

The first question is are you willing to open up your Wii (kill the warrenty) and fit the mod? If yes. Then you are done - seriously there is nothing else to do.

You no longer even have to convert your back ups to the wii format you can just use ISO and a normal NTFS HDD. Perfect for me

Yes of course I am willing to crack it open, I am even shopping for used if I need to lol but reading all of this soft mod compliments hard mods stuff I was really getting confused.

LOL - yeah I was just not too keen on going the softmod route and having our Wii bricked on the next Wii update.

All that is needed besides a Wii and a WODE is a USB HDD, it can be either a USB powered one or a external powered HDD and some of your backed up games. That's that as far as I am aware. So far I have made ISO's of all the families games and am waiting for the WODE to arrive. Not sure when that will be but should be sooner rather than later I suspect.

    WODE USB Hard Drive

Is there any limit on the size of the USB drive that can be used with WODE?

Not as far as I am aware, any size HDD will work.

Finally a way to play Gamecube iso's via usb. To play wii/GC iso's does it have to be NTFS or can it load iso's from fat32 and wbfs ?

NTFS - Read only, no ripping
WBFS - Same as any USB loader
FAT32 - Read and rip recommended for GC only
    Ext3FS - Pure ISO
    WiFi/SAMBA - Pure ISO

That above info maybe a little outdated and new features may/can be added so just remember that.

By Pure ISO, does that mean it supports ripping games to ISO format as well as playing them?

That would be ideal for me as I run Linux on most of my PCs and don't want to risk the kids scratching their original discs.

    /c

Update: My Wode (pre-ordered from modchipcentral) shipped today (Friday, 1/8)!
