    Thumbs up

    Hi, I'm new here.

If I undersand correctly the new WODE will mount like this:

WIIDVD ---- WiiDVD Controller ---- WODE ---- WII Mainboard ---- TV
    .................................................. ..../
    .................................................. .../ USBcable
    .................................................. ../
    .........................................External HDD

If so, my question is, can one install a USB DVD unit instead of the External HDD and thus be able to play backup DVDs ? Or, if one has one of those LG DVD drive, one can play original Wii discs from different region?

This question applies of course to those having the D3-2 chip.
More over, if the External USB DVD drive is a DVD-RW, how about backing up original Wii discs on the fly (or buffered on HDD)?

Also I wonder if the OS of WODE will support TCP/IP connectivity (provided I install an USB to Ethernet convertor) and have my External HDD shared over the network.

    Thank you.

WODE has the ability to play DVD-R backups with the flatmod that comes with it so no need for any special drives and if your stuck with the new drove then USB loading is the only option.

Those are some great pics Favs! Thanks for sharing such an intimate perspective on the manufacturing process.

I've hard modded and soft modded my 4.2u and am really happy with it so far but this new product looks like a dream to add!

Anyway, Im looking forward to checking out more of your posts about this... thanks again!

Yeah I've got to say this looks like a great product. I can't wait to start reading the feedback it gets once it's shipped out. The manufacture pics are awesome too, keep 'em comin'.

    USB Power

Thank you for all the information about this product. I have only just got my first wii and I was going to get the WiiDriveKey however the serial number indicates I have the D3-2 drive. So I will be ordering the WODE and using a USB external hard drive.

My question is will the USB port on the WODE be suitable to power a “USB Powered” External Hard drive (i.e. 2.5” drive) or will I need an externally powered external hard drive?

    Thanks

I'm excited about this as well but I'm going to let some other people get it and give their hands-on feedback/review first. $110 is alot of money for modding something to do most things that can be done for free, with care (and occasionally luck). But it seems like a powerful beast. I do love the GC games off a USB drive. Its got alot of potential.

Yes good question. Can we use a USB DVD drive if we get stuck with a D2-3 drive? Good question because I have like many, quite a few DVD backups that I would like to continue using rather than have to rip them to HDD.

I just bought a new WII with a 25% chance of D2-3 being in it. I just pre-ordered my WODE also. Just found out about it so I am lucky as I have only be waiting for a couple of days now! Not months like some.

Another important question. I was going to buy and set up a drive all ready to go for when the WODE ships. A USB powered drive would be great. Does the wode have enough power for this type of drive?

    Quite excited about this.
