Writing our second email to update you on the WODE status. We started preorders early October, with an initial release date said to be mid November. Unfortunately, we where 99.99% sure they we would have WODE in 2 days time, because the owner had assured us that date was set. The owner, teh lead developer, and the rest of the time are in China now. Theye pretty much are ready to go, but they are without a case, the docking station plastic.Official quote from an email they sent distributors a moment ago.
"Now the bad news, there is, again, a slight delay on the vertical stand, the factory has completed the injection molding tool required to produce the vertical stand and will deliver the first 20pcs. For final approval on the 18th of december, mass production can then commence and on the 22nd"
It makes us pretty sick to our stomach, because we have promised so many people delivery before xmas. The delay is just not for us, we are first in line to get stock, we have ordered and sold more than any reseller worldwide and have formed a close bond with the team.
Stock is now said to be shipping to us on the 22nd. Our stock is about 85% sold. We will be getting 20~40% shipped to us on the first day of shipment, and the same amount every subsequent day. That would mean we would probably have the whole batch ready to go on Monday the 28th of Decemeber.We will be working every single day that Australia post is working. We have already preprinted every single shipping label, entered into the Eparcel/eparcel express/fedex system. We have your tracking number ready to go....we are just waiting on the product.
I know that a lot of customer are buying this product as a xmas gift, unfortunately it will not get to you in time for xmas, and for this we are extremely sorry.
The gut reaction after so many delays would probably be to cancel your order. We have no issues this, if you want to cancel your order please email us @ OzMod :: Support Ticket System
and start a ticket with the subject "Cancel WODE".
However, before you do please know that:
1. There is currently no other similar product, this is a new type of modification device for the Wii. There has already been a competing company announce a product with half of the specs WODE has and almost the same price. The product has no LCD screen, and the device requires you to take your DVD drive out, which means no playing original games, ever.
2. The delay is for everyone, there is no distributor that is getting stock before us. Canceling with us, and placing an order with someone else would be close to pointless.
3. If you cancel, and then order again you will loose your allocation position in the first batch. The second batch will be available late January.
Many people ask why we charge credit cards, and accept payment for preorder before the item ships. It is because the day it comes in, we have to pack hundreds of orders, and we don't have time to call people for new credit card numbers. The day WODE comes in, we will be able to ship everyone out with no issues.
On Monday the 14th (today), we will be shipping out every other product many of you have order with the WODE (DS flash cards, etc), so that you will get your goods before xmas.
If you are happy to wait a couple more days and accept the WODE after xmas we will happily upgrade all Australian customers to eParcel Express (express trackable 1 day shipment to 95% of AU, and also safe as it requires a signature). Those who ordered express post will get credit for the $7.7 if they would like, please contact us AFTER you receive the product to organise that.
Once again, we are really really really sorry for the delay. I sincerly hope we could do something about it...but it is out of our hands. To the people that emailed, and called, asking for delivery before xmas --- we hate that we have let you down. It wasn't a figure of speach when I said "sick to our stomach". Letting people down with a xmas present is the worst thing that could happen in our books.
You might have received an email with some really bad english if you are apart of the WODE mailing list. "our technical support & commitment to the end user is second to none..." If you have a look at the WODE forum you will see that the lead developer is very active in answering everyones questions, and listening to their idea for future WODE firmware upgrades.
The next email from us, will be notifaction of the WODEs shipping to us, and after that, your tracking number.
