bricking wii is for people who don't pay attention
I bought a wii on monday and it's already soft moded with 4.2u and never had any problems, understand what i need to do to avoid bricks, this device's only benefit is for those who don't understand or do not wish to learn about how a wii works.
After about 12 hours of reading, and tweeking, i'm runing homebrew with all previous systems emulated of a 300GB SATA external drive, have a wsbc partition of 250Gig with over 20 iso's on it and multipartions of fat 32 for my 5K+ roms. I do like how you can play GC without disk but i'm sure someone will come up with a GC emu at some point.
i'll save the 110 as i can get another used Wii for that if ever i brick mine cause i do something STUPID.

Getting on for ease of use for my young son too, I'm just hoping the WODE gets delivered in time for x-mas!

Yes I wish. I am sceptical, I've just posted my misgivings on the Wode website.

WOW you must feel so special and the fact you came in here to troll with a comment like that makes me care so very little for your accomplishment.

People have taken one side and then spend more time slinging shit after ppl who took a different road, rather then debating whats good/bad about both solutions.
Clearly there are benafits from both ways, but to me it's not really clear if the chip is worth the cash compared to a "free" softmod. That only will cost u a SD card, that alot of people anyway have laying around from a old Digi Cam or what ever.
I have yet to brick a wii, never met anyone IRL who have bricked a wii either.
Dunno if that makes me "special" anyway people claim the chip is more children safe i guess, my thourt is automaticly as a old Commodore kid. Homebrew channel and USB loader is sooo simple, compared to loading C64 games with a tape station or codeing a Commodore ViC20 game modual.
If people go for the chip coz it's easyer/faster then spending hours reading and finding the right softmod, thats very understandable to me. If you compare the "work hours" I have spend on "learning" to softmod, then the chip is well worth the money forshure.

2009 Wii Serial numbers after LU3884XXXX and LEH2676XXXX have probably got the new D3-2 chip that prevents playing backup DVD's. They can still use original discs and USB loaders.
And please do donate to the forum if you are able so we can go on helping the Wii community.
I hope you have a great time here at WiiHacks, and increase your knowledge of all things Wii.

I've got a fully softmodded Wii but the softmodding is always complimented by a hardmod and vice versa, even though softmodding can replicate the WODE to a degree the future possibilities of the WODE make it a far more interesting investment.
