Heres some info regarding BCA ripping, which if you havn't already read is the new copy protection feature present in some of the newer games such as NSMB and Avatar.

We will implement disk ripping shortly after launch, BCA ripping will be included and the resulting image will play back without patching the resulting ISO.

How we package the ISO + BCA data is "to be decided".

They've had it working for some time now and the WODE will be fully updateable with new firmware which will apparently be about 8mb in size.

You can play all the wiiware and VC titles with this right (they work on the USB just like wii and gc games)?

First post here, howdy all. I posted this over at the official WODE sight but thought I would ask here as well.

I have preordered my WODE, can't wait until it ships! Trying to get everything prepared before it gets here I have a question. I am new to "USB loaders", etc. but pretty computer literate. If I read correctly if my intentions are to read my Wii and Gamecube ISOs only then having my hard drive formatted as NTFS would be just fine? What would the benefit of formatting either the entire drive or a partition as WBFS do for me? Also, I am assuming that in order to dump an original Wii or GC game to the hard drive from the WODE I would have to have another partition formatted as Ext3FS? I have a 320 GB external drive that I will be using for the Wode. If I want to read Wii and GC ISOs, and rip Wii and GC games directly from my original discs to the hard drive how should I set up the drive? Partition size and file system for each partition? Thanks in advance!

Also, I wanted to say a big Thank You to Favs for answering many of the questions I had about the WODE without me ever asking them!

First thanks for the heads up on this, looks very nice and very very tempting. My question is a simple one, i am soft-modded at the minute, would i need or is it advisable to go back to a "virgin" set-up on my Wii prior to set up, to allow updates etc.

You can have the Wode and softmod. Probably the prefered solution for most here.
One solution for a lot of people would be a vigin Wii, let it update whenever it wants to, no worries about bricks.

There are several options for formating. The easiest would be the whole drive as WBFS.
The next best may be WBFS and NTFS, so you can have small game files in WBFS and full ISO's on the NTFS, also useful for standard PC file stucture.
Then as you say there are other formats depending what you want to do.
