Ok some interesting bits of info. If you program for Linux this may be of interest to you.
Linux kernel patches will appear shortly after launch (including native WBFS driver - no FUSE). Most of the "magic" happens in a userland app & that is not open source. Unfortunately we need to protect our IP and that means the Linux uImage will be encrypted in flash (Tivoisation but GPL v2 compliant)
That said, we are happy to support 3rd party devs. What do you have in mind?Face east and listen carefully. You may just be able to hear the sound of thousands of Wodes being manufactured.
That's right folks, mass production has begun! I fly out to China end of next week to sort out the programming and by the time I get back your Wode will be "in the post"
We had some issues with the plastics & I wasn't happy with the first PCB layout (y, blame me personally) but everything is resolved and we are good to go. I know we have slipped a little but you will have your Wode soon & it will be worth the wait
Indeed, very promising.
Not sure if I already posted something like this earlier but here it is.
The Wode firmware is stored on a flash chip internally, SD is required for updating Wode. Max update will be 8MB so any SD card bigger than that will be fine
You can also format an SD card using WBFS or FAT to play Wii and GC games respectively. Wode supports SD-HC cards
wow, looks like i will be getting one of these................lol
WODEJUBOX will be introduced on December 7 and we are planning to deal them out to all our distributors within a few days; we expect WODE will to be available to our distributors by December 15.
We apologize for the further delay, there have been some technical issues during the testing of the prototypes and this has helped to optimize the connections capabilities inside the console, which will ease up the installation fast and reliable as ever.
At the beginning of this week a wiinewz WODE we will publish regarding a prototype in order to have an unbiased review.
Meanwhile, we have seen the confinement of potential competitors for WODE, it is to be noted that the competition do not include a Linux system, it uses the RAW which means write to disk method.
This system, which is not a system file, uses the HDD sectors as a result of wasted space (these sectors worth the size of a game, i.e. if the game uses 1GB, the sectors will always occupy 4.7GB disk!).
Moreover it is tricky to use a special tool to move the ISO on the special RAW formatted disk.
Anyway we think that WODE can be truly appreciated and understood for its potentiality, the users will be in high spirits only when they really make use of it.
We conclude by announcing an excellent news, the WODE vertical stand is already in production within a couple of days we will see the exclusive photos of high Plastic quality standard, the same applies for the Memory Stick WiFi will be available on the market a few days after WODE itself.
We are nearly the end of this long adventure and we look forward sharing the excitement of using WODE with you!
Just don't slip and cut off a finger you wont be able to play then.
flatmii anyone ? sounds similar. ive been using flatmii for months and love it. havent had a problem with any games so far. can be used on fully un-modded wii's, as well as modded.
personaly i use my flatmii to load both GC and WII backups from my computer. and have softmodded only for wiiware and such.
Some new news and a video of the WODE running a NON-PATCHED iso of NSMB.
Slipping into December is disappointing but Wode hardware has to be perfect before we will let it ship. Some missing tracks meant a PCB respin & we took the opportunity to improve connector placement.
By way of compensation there's a new video of two Wodes playing NSMB back to back. These are pre-production Wodes & have a couple of wire fixes on the main board
The Wode on the right is in "Flat Mode" & NSMB is running from a back up disk. ISO size 4.7GB
The Wode on the left is running NSMB from an SD card formatted with WBFS. WBFS image size 350MB
No ISO was patched during the making of this movie (Note: the audio is currently disabled, it will be changed shortly)
