Good link! BTW I received my package today. I happened to be home since my son was sick. I was able to follow your video and have it installed and tested within 10-15 minutes total. I'm so stoked. I just worked up a sweat testing Clone Wars out, which woke my son up.

I know this is asked a lot with various responses, so I'm asking again as it relates to the Wiizard. When I powered up the Wii, it asked to download update 3.4. Is this okay? I do not have homebrew and at the time do not plan on installing it.

I'm now going to start burning the other ISOs I have at higher speeds, because 2x is way too slow. I will post my findings.

WiiBit, I am so jealous ! The day my mod chip arrives, I think I will need to take a day off from work :-)

This is what canadamods said to my similar question:

"Wii Firmware updates do not effect the modchip functionality, they only block off homebrew applications."

Yeah I lucked out. I'm testing Spider-Man: Web of Shadows now. I set Imgburn to auto and it seems fine so far. Once I'm done, I will update the FW. Thank you.

for burn speed i usually recommend 4x

Yeah, but I thought I would give it a try. I'm being pressured by the missus to buy some lightscribe DVDs. So I had DVDs to spare. So far no coasters. They all work fine.

Update: I am still using Sony DVD-R due to lack of availability of the lightscribe DVDs in my area. I have also switched to Nero. I have burned using defaults for both downloads and disc copy of my friend's discs. It works flawlessly.

I am confused on one thing and can't understand what I have found so far. If I download VC games, do I have to have Homebrew to play them even if I have the WiiZard?

Yes, you need homebrew. All a modchip does is play backups games. For VC and WW games, you need homebrew and the WAD manager.

Tried to play PAL and I see the game channel (WII Play) but when I click on it, the screen goes blank and nothing. Hmm.. Anyone has been able to play PAL successfully on their NTSC ?

Modchips only offer partial other-region game support. Only some PAL games work on NTSC consoles and vice verse.

Got a wiizard installed on my wii today, all I can say is that its a great chip. I've tested 20+ different games, including problematic ones like SSBB and not have had a single problem.
