    Unhappy WiiKey2 D2E eject issue

First let me say thanks for everyones help in the forums! I'm new to WiiHacks but have been installing chips in systems for years. Here is my issue:

After installing a yellow sticker WiiKey2 (6 wire install) in a D2E system I am getting eject issues. backups and originals will spin up fine however after you eject any disc the system DVD drive will no longer respond until the system is fully power cycled. Here is what I have tried so far:

    1. Using alternate ground points (read this can fix some wii's with this problem)
    2. Making the clock wire 3.5 inches long (this helped some users with D2Pro chips in the past)
    3. Use thicker wire for ground and power connections.
    4. Used Wiikey1 Power and Ground points.
    5. Made sure chip was updated to 1.2 via config disc.

Hopefully I am missing something, ive done a lot of wii chip installs and cant seem to get this system working without power cycling after every disc.

    Thanks for any assistance!

From what I have read there are some d2e drives that just won't respond to anything that you do.

If this is for a customer just phone them and ask them if this is ok. More than likely they will say that it is ok. I would have done that first and then rathe than trying alternate points save your time and give it to them for a bit cheaper.

trying different wiikey2 chips sometimes works too. I read about someone who switched out the chip for a different one and both worked systems worked with their new chip

All my wiikey2's are from the same batch but I can try a different chip and see what happens next time I get a problem wii in. I gave it to the customer and they were ok with it, its just not the way I like to work. I figured there must be some kind of working solution for the problem. For a while I used the D2E A9's and never had this problem even on brand new D2E wii's, just doesn't make sense.... Thanks for your response.

You will find the shorter the wire, the less it occurs. I also try to place it on the motherboard just above the center of the drive (not on the grey center, it is worse there). Insulating it with electrical tape also helps (underneath and ontop once done). Overall though I would say the shorter wires really help the most.

I will email the user and have them update to 3.4 (if they haven't already). As for the wires I always make them as short as possible and never cross the data connections. I had a different D2E with the same problem and tried re-locating the chip and had the same problem. I'm hoping there will be a wiikey2 update that fixes this issue but it seems like its more hardware related as its only happen to me 3 times and all wii's were brand new. Thanks again for everyones contributions!

    Smile WiiKey2 D2E eject issue

I upgrade my Wii firmware before the mod, so it sounds like it hardware issue? Lets assumes it is the hardware issue, is there anything that I can change out? Different Wii keys?

    Thanks

Al the D2E chips are having this problem, its not just the wiikey. Different things seems fix them for different people however it still seems to be hardware related. Hopefully someone will find out exactly what makes this problem occur and find a real fix that works, not just different thigns that may or may not.

Try putting a d2sun in there, and vice versa. I have had the d2sun fix many problem drives. I encountered one d2sun which had similar errors, but the WiiKey 2 worked a lot better, so I used that instead. Not sure if that is an option for you though. If you can still get 9 wire mods they are ideal.
