Thumbs down Installed wiikey2 no please insert disk on every game

Hi, I have just installed wiikey2 (yellow sticker) on a d2e chip set. Every disk I put in, original or backup, spins for a bit and then says please insert disk. i removed the epoxy without too much trouble and have checked the soldering with a meter and have no shorts. I am new to modding wii's but have done a couple of dozen or so of PS2s.

I can run the chip update disk without trouble, and updated Wiikey 2 Update / Config Disc v1.2 - 'Asgard Core' - PAL REGION.

If I take the chip out all works fine.

This is my first post, but if it was not for this site I would not of even had a go at chipping my wii.

    Any help owuld be appreciated.

    cheers. DMG

Wow, that was a quick response. I did suspect it might be the chip but just wanted to check I hadn't done something wrong or missed anything.

UPDATE:- Installed this chip into a D2C Wii, everything works fine. Do you think maybe it could be the G wire in the D2E Wii, maybe I need to clear the epoxy from the chip and put the wire straight onto the leg of the chip? What do you think? Any ideas? All help gratefully received. Cheers. DMG

try installing the the wire to the actual ic leg but you might have to clean up some more epoxy.

It can't be the media if yours if fine on a d2c.

check your g wire and if not you might have damaged the board while soldering.

If you try the ic leg and your still not getting it to run (and you know its not the media) it sounds like you damaged the board. what method did you use to remove the epoxy

I used the paint stripper method last night and it worked amazing just took some time. If you can attach a picture too

I would use the leg instead of the point, that point after removing epoxy can sometimes disconnect or be weak.

Thanks for the advice. As the chip is now in use in my brothers Wii, I will order a new one and update. I used the heat and prise method of epoxy removal without too much trouble it has to be said. A little tentative at first but was very carefull.

All sorted - soldered to the leg of the ic, no more problems. Many thanks for the advice. The wiikey2 is soooo easy to install, and works like a dream.

Hey I have the same problem except I have D2A i think, (got it on the first day it came out). First time modder and me and my uncle spent 4 hours sodering in the chip with a crappy sodering iron. I havent downloaded the config disc is that why it won't work?

Could be. Dowload the update disk, blow it to a dvd and insert it to the wii. Run the setup and save it then reset your wii. Insert an original game (so it detects your region) then you should be able to play a backup. When burning I always burn at 1 speed and have not had any problems. I do use DVD-R but not any particular brand - just burn it slow and you should be OK. Enjoy.
