Wiikey2 region help please
Hi i have just fitted a wiikey2 with wiiclip to my wii(PAL),the first game i tried was a back up of a pal game which worked ok, the problem is i cannot play any of my ntsc backups, then i read on a site that i had to put an own region disc in for the region override to work.Has any one got any ideas what i can do for ntsc backups to work? maybe i could reset the modchip? cheers.
Have you run the wiikey2 firmware update and config disk? Have you tried running a PAL original?
head over to the WiiKey 2 webpage, download and burn the update DVD.
When you're done running the chip's firmware update, be sure to play an original game within your region right after.
Yea tried original disc works ok, pal backups work ok but the ntsc don't, i have run config 1.2 in there it says region patcher on, also i tried the update not sure if 1.9s is the latest one it runs through the test ok but when it comes to update it says error check connections and try again.
When you ran the Config 1.2 disk did it go through the firmware update , then reboot, then let you into the config? The 1.9s update is for the original WiiKey V1.
No when i put the 1.2 disc in it boots straight into a blue screen with the config options there is no sign of an update.what is the latest firmware for the wiikey 2 any idea.
Hmm... somewhat strange. This is a link to the current config/update disk:
I just got my Wiikey2 a few weeks ago. I ran the USA version of the 1.2 "Asgard Core" disk. It initially presented me with a message indicating that the firmware had to be updated before I could go any further. Only after the update and a reboot could I get into the config portion.
After some research it looks like your problem MAY be related to the fact that the first disk inserted after WiiKey install was a backup. You could try using the rescue disk:
Please note that I have never personally used the rescue disk, though based on the text file included with it it should be pretty straightforward.
So, try the rescue disk, then put the 1.2 update disk in and let it do it's thing, then put an original PAL disk in and see what happens.
If none of these work I would lean towards it either being a bad Wiikey or a bad WiiClip.

I have the exact same thing but I cant play originals as I think the modder played a back up straight after wiikey2 install and stuffed the region code.
I tried to load the rescue disc and it wont even load, but the config 1.2 will go figure. So i cant update the firmware for wiikey
