System update 4.3 with WiiKey 2
When my son turned on the Wii tonight, he said the menu automatically brought him to the update screen and he did the update. So, now my system is 4.3 and none of my DVD backups work. I have a Solderless WiiKey 2 with a V 1.3 config disc update.
Is there anything I can do now, or do I need to wait for another WiiKey 2 update?
A few other forums mentioned that the WiiKey 2 would work fine with the update, but I dont think anyone has tried it yet. Well, it doesnt work in my Wii.
If anyone can help, I'd really appreciate it.

Ya had me following until those last two words, lol.
Exact same problem.....
I have, in a bid to get my new copies of mario galaxy and toy story to work, decided maybe I need to update my Wii software. So I did this and it went from the older 1.3 up to 4.3u now!
Now, I dont know what to do. Some older backups do still work. But before, I could see the toy story disc icon, I can click on the game but when it starts to load, it just had a black screen. Now, it doesnt even show the toy story icon on the main Wii menu at all.
I have just had my brother take my Wii to the shop to get the Wiikey2 installed a few days ago.
Is there anything at all that I can do because I have searched and searched for hours now and there are far too many things to learn in order to get this to work! I have just been looking at the softmod for 4.3 but that is the most complicated thing in the world?! Do I even need a softmod if I have the Wiikey 2? Do you even need a Wiikey 2 fitted to use the softmod?
Does a Wii with softmod play any game from a USB/HDD/SD card??? This is sooo confusing?!!
Thanks for all your help

I'm sure you all have read on the forums here or elsewhere about 4,2 and 4.3 killing the region free.
Try a backup that is the same region as your wii and see if it helps

Downgrade from 4.3 to 4.1......read about this before actually doing it!
I have actually got mine all working and sorted!
There is a guide to downgrade your new update to the 4.1e. I have done it with mine And now everything works perfectly. I have even soft modded the thing and put home brew channel on there.
To do the downgrade/softmod though, I used a game called yu-gi-oh Wheelie breakers. Basically, this (as well as a few other games such as Indiana PWNS or Smash atack and more..) they have some back door passage where you run the game, which sets up a saved file for your new user details for that game (Which saves onto the Wii saved games section). Then with a few magic steps, you can load up a special bit of software (Hackmii installer) allowing you to do your hacks.
Do a search for "Restore region FREE to 4.2/4.3 wiis" an excellent post by someone called mauifrog! That has full details.
You need a standard SD card (<2GB), a copy of the Yu-gi-oh game (You can get the torrent download from just about anywhere, or buy it!) oh and an SD card reader for your laptop!
You need to download the correct Hackmii installer (I used Hackmii_0.8-yu-gi-owned!E50.zip which you extract the files with winrar, and save them to the root of the SD card (a file called boot.elf and a folder called private). I used this installer because my Wii is european and software is 4.3e.
You basically put the SD into the Wii, start the game, then exit it once you have set up a username etc on it. You then delete that saved game data from the WII. Then access saved game data from the SD card and copy it to the Wii. You now have the "Key" to the back door passage into your Wii - the door to the passage being the Yu-gi-oh game. The next time you load Yu-gi-oh, after the titel screen it will try to open up your original saved game data but, instead it uses the "key" you have saved and instead of loading up saved game data, it stupidly loads up the special "Hackmii" software! Job done for the main part.....
Once you have pressed "1" you basically then just exit and return to the Wii home page....nothing more!
The next step is to delete the Boot.elf file from the SD card using your laptop (Keep Private folder).
next you download "4.3-region Free.zip" (Links are all on the guide by mauifrog). Extract all of these files to the SD card.
Download "4.1e-system menu-NUS-v450.zip" (4.1e cos mine is a european Wii) and then extract this file to the "wad" folder that is on the SD card now.
Put the SD card into the Wii, then go straight to run the Yu-gi-oh game again. This time when it tries to load the installer, instead it will load up the new files you have put on the SD card - "Multi-mod manager".
Now you just follow the instructions on the guide by mauifrog!! The above I have put just to settle the mind of someone reading it who knows nothing about the Wii hacks AT ALL! (Like me!).
Hope it helps!
Oh yeah, and do the last option - install pirii loader so as not to automatically update the Wii ever again!!
Hey thanks, I'm going to ry it now. I'll let u know how it goes.
Could just be a region problem

If that is the cause then simply search specifically for game files that include "USA format" or "NTSC" format.

yep, 4.3 kills region free for hardmods. You can follow mauifrogs softmod any wii in my sig. It will get you downgraded to 4.1 and you will be all set.Or you could just softmod and usb load (stop using discs alltogether!)
