black screen

Ive just removed the wiikey from my wii as im gona put it in my mates wii. Ive got softmods on mine so the key was kind of pointless. Ive just went to try my wii without the key and all im getting is a black screen with no sound. The wii powers on fine and sounds like it loads the game, but still nothing. Ive tried my mates wii and that works fine so i know its not the connections that are at fault. Any ideas on how to sort this or is my wii bricked.

Do you mean the wii boots and you can access the system but when you go to launch a game it black screens or blakc screens on boot....??

I cant access or see anything. Its just a black screen. The console powers on, takes the game fine and sounds as if its loading. The power light is green. It also ejects the game fine. I checked the connections by swapping the wii for another and that wii worked fine?

You may have knocked the Bluetooth module loose when you were messing around with the wiikey. Open it up and make sure the bluetooth module is plugged into the board tight.

What were you messing around with IOS70 for?

Thanks a million. You were spot on. It had came loose, not by much but when pressed back into place it cliped on to the main board. Just tried it before i screw everything back together and it worked first time. Thanks again.

Yeah, they don't have to come out much to cause a problem. Glad it's all working again.

Ive now got the problem of a dead dvd drive. I had put the wii together and tried to eject a game, but nothing happened. I opened the wii up again to check the connections and they were all fine. Any ideas.

What kind of wiikey did you have? You may have shorted out the drive somewhere. Try swapping with a different drive and see what happens.

Check for anything that could be causing a short.

It was a wiikey 2. The drive was working after the key was removed, when i had the blank screen. I will open it back up and check the connections & look for anything else that could be causing it. Ive still got the spare wii here so i will also try the drive from that.

I just tried another drive in my wii and it worked fine so it must be my drive thats dead. Not sure what ive done to it but it looks like a replacement will need to be ordered. Is there anything i could look for in the dead drive thats caused the drive to die.
