    Problem with Wiikey2 with wiiclip

Hey guys I am having problems getting my Wiikey2 with wiiclip to work with backups. I have a D2B chipset wii and this wiikey2 is the second mod chip that I received because the 1st one did not work also. I centered the clip in the IC and gently pushed the clip down using even pressure and it appears to be fully seated. When I turned the console on it reads a back up but when I hit start I get an error message stating to eject the disk and reboot the system. I tried downloading several different config disks including 1.2 and 1.9g and 1.9s. The 1.2 loads and gives me choices to select read speeds ect. When I put in 1.9g or 1.9s it loads and then starts running a test that fails and says to check connections??? I can run original disks with the clip installed with no problems. Can someone please help me with this as it is very annoying!!! The site that I purchased the chip is not very helpfull.

    Hey Manny110

Your using the wrong firmware, the 1.2 Asgard core is the one you want for the Wiikey 2, if your also using the 1.9, that's the lattest for the Wiikey v.1. Not the same chip and not the same firmware.

That's probably where you went wrong.

ok so i am assuming I can get this from the wiikey site? Would you mind giving me a step by step guide as to what I need to do once I download and burn this version? Also I just realized that some people are having issues with animal crossing. As it turns out that is the back-up that I am trying to get to work. Should I try to back-up another game and see if it works?

Animal crossing is definately one of your issues. If you have a BU of animal crossing make sure it is your region. Animal crossing and Boom Blox want to get an update the first time you play them. You can run a program called "WiiBrickBlocker" on them and that will fix them so they don't try to update.
Here is what I do after installation of the WiiKey chip.
1st) I put in an original game, this sets your Wii to your region.
2nd) I install the Wiikey 2 Update/Config Combined Disc v1.2 - 'Asgard Core' disc. Make sure you have it to only get updates on your region.
3rd) I put in a backup game and test. Try Lego Indiana Jones, its a great game.

If you have any issues with games that give you a black screen when you start, try burning them again using the "WiiBrickBlocker" program. It is very simple and the instructions are on the homepage.
    Goodluck!!!

Ok I tried the 1.2 config disk but what options should I change/use? After running 1.2 I inserted an original disk to set region and then I tried to run a back-up and my machine read it but after the message about using the hand strap I got a message that wii was unable to read disk. I burned the backup using imageburn on verbatim -R dvd. I then tried a different backup with same results. Then I rebooted and now the wii wont recognize either the config disk or the back-ups. I think part of my problem is the wiikey sucks!!!! Can anyone advise how hard it is to solder the chip myself instead of using the clip?? I have some soldering experience but I m no expert.

    Manny,
I would not solder the chip. I have done several myself and they are NO fun. I have a lot of soldering experience and you just have a chance of ruining your Wii if you over heat it or short it out. Try turning your backup read to 3x in the configuration. If you get an error, push on the on/off button until it turns red. Then push on and try again. When you are burning the copied games make sure you copy a 4X or slower. I buy Verbatim 8X and burn at 4X. As for a good place to get ISO's, check this out. How to use Newsleecher and Giganews - Usenet Tutorials | Veoh. Good Luck!!! If all else fails you can always send it to me $$
