    4.2 and wiikey2

my friend upgraded her wii last night before upgrading her wiikey. anyways should it still work ok to upgrade to 1.3 after she went to 4.2? she tried to put in the nsmb after running the 1.3 disk and it still wont show up?
should all be fine? could be a bad disk burn

Well, are you saying she successfully updated her wiikey2 to 1.3? If she did then all should be ok.Now the issue of 4.2 because she went to 4.2 she has taken the ability to play out of region games on her system.Other than that your wiikey should not be affected by the 4.2 firmware regardles if you went to 4.2 before or after the wiikey update.Try burning your game with sonic pro at 4x speed.I know everyone says img burn, but i tried sonic the other day and it worked really smooth.hope this helps.

yeah looks like the upgrade of the wiikey went fine, when yo pop in the config disk it shows the config screen and that it is 1.3
so maybe its the game itself, is there something that can be done to the game to make it region free? i think i seen it somewhere to scrub the game and make it region free.

or is there a way to downgrade it to 4.1 if i softmod it?
the problem is , the nsmb game brings up that black error screen everytime, tried 3 different disks with 3 different burns. using verbetum -r but using img burn, maybe should try sonic too, ut guessing it might be the game itself allthough it said it was usa.

I have the same problem, I have 4.2U Wii Firmware and Wiikey 1.3 Config sucessfully installed. I have tried burning (3) different versions of NSMB and get the same error message each time. All my other backups work fine just the NSMB does not work. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Tried playing NSMBs and the Disc Channel shows "Wii System Update". So, I tried updating my Wiikey2 to V1.3. When I updated, it first did a Firmware Update then I rebooted. Then another screen showing different settings (Region Patcher, Audio Fix, Original Read Speed,........., Allow System Backup (USA), Save Settings.
I kept all of the defaults and selected Save Settings. Came back with Settings Saved Please Reboot. I rebooted, put NSMB in, but it's still showing "Wii System Update" in the Disc Channel. My Wii Firmware is at 4.1U. From what I've read, 4.1U should be OK. Does it sound like I did the Wiikey2 update OK? I've never done one before. Could it be a bad NSMB DL? Maybe I should try a different one. Or just do the Wii System Update? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

for you to just use the wiikey with the update, you MUST have a direct 1:1 backup of the NSMB without any patches or anything. I didnt find one online so i had to softmod and use an app to play it, works good though, very good
