options for a virgin 3.4u wii

    Hi!
I have a new, virgin and never connected to the internet wii, with a 3.4u system menu.
    I just receive a D2C Drive Modded w/ Wiikey2 Modchip.
I was planning to replace the original drive, with this one.

I will like to confirm with you, that my options are the following:

HARDMODE (installing the new modded drive)

    Pros
    multi region
    dvd games direct boot

    Cons
No firmware fix available for the BCA

SOFTMODE (without installing the new modded drive and using the retail Zelda or HackMii)

    Pros
    Load from external hd
    Fast reading speed
    Can run homebrew
Can use ios to fix BCA

    Cons
    No dvd direct boot

BOTH (with the modded drive and softmode - using a backup of Zelda)

    Pros
    dvd games direct boot
    Load from external hd
    Fast reading speed (external hd)
    Can run homebrew
Can use ios to fix BCA

    Cons
    Lose multi region
Lose ability to use wiikey 2 config dvd

    People:
    Does my points are correct?
Is better to have the best of both worlds?
    Is there a better setup?
Anything else to take in consideration?

Thanks in advance for you patience and feedback!!!!

    That is not true.
It is best to have both. You don't need to use TP hack
Install your chip, update the firmware, set the options, be sure to enable the autoboot feature.
Then follow the 3.1-4.1 guide linked below.

I like the fact that softmodding is free, however I don't like the fact that my friends can inadvertently stuff it up if they update it.

However for me the bonus is in having the games on the USB. I can easily change and load games without getting up, I can store all my original games away in the roof or in the garage and just have the one neat little HD next to the wii which matches all of my other stuff.

I kind of like the way the wode is looking but needs a much better interface to make it worth considering

I am sure setting parental password on wii stops people updating it without password.

Just block NUS in your router.

I am in your situation.I just got a dc2 drive modded with a wiikey2.What I did was bought rock band beatles and ran the update through the disc and got updated to 4.1.I believe the same goes for NSMB so only run the updates from original discs from your region and you got no probs.I run COD MW and all the other good stuff no probs. You must know by now about the wiikey update right?Issue fixed so no probs on NSMB anymore.
As far as softmodding goes.....not for me,at least for now. There are a few games that don't seem to work, but i'm ok with that because there are tons of games that do work.Tiger woods ,nhl2k10.resident evil 4.I am in bloody heaven. So in essence get to 4.1 via disc and enjoy!!! If i,ve helped say thanks
