Black screen normally means you have some IOS missing or at lower versions than the games require. An update either by installing some IOS through homebrew or a disc update would normally fix this. Not much danger updating using a 3.4 update disc when you are already at 4.1.

I just bought a 2nd hand WII Console from my friend.
The set is a Korean Set with WIIKEY firmware 3.2U.
I went to do a system update to 4.1U and I am still able to play the backup games.
How do I check more details of the WIIkey or how do I test if the update to 4.1U is working fine.. I am new to this wii hack so apperciate if anyone could advice me what to do and what to test?
Many Thanks!
Ok, so I followed Dogeggs softmod guide and installed hbc and IOS 38, 50, 53 and 55. I get nothing in the disc channel and a black screen with NeoGamma with Punchout even burned another to make sure it wasn't the disc. Sports Resort worked perfectly though.Originally Posted by Tealc [Only Registered Members May View Links| Click here to register]
I don't think WSR needs so many IOS as Punch-Out. Had no particular issues with Punch-Out myself, although you might want to search the forum for details on issues that others have had.
My IOS38 is v3610, 53 is v5149 and 55 is v5149. I don't have IOS56 or IOS57 installed.

Don't you have the wiikey2, though?Originally Posted by Tealc [Only Registered Members May View Links| Click here to register]
I want to update to 4.1 (from 3.3) but I'm waiting for someone to figure out what's missing that's causing the problem in the first place.
The Wiikey2 in my system is not used when loading from USB. I only use it for GC games these days, even then not very much.

I was just trying to clarify it. I wonder if we can get backups to work with the original wiikey on 4.1 WITHOUT loading from USB.
Not to derail the topic, but does loading from USB work (well) with 3.2u?
Yes it works just fine, once you get it set up.Originally Posted by ivanmmj [Only Registered Members May View Links| Click here to register]

So i bought a wiikey for my system lastnight. After reading some of these posts in this thread i am concerned that it may not work as my firmware is already 4.1u. Should i be worried that my games will not work now? Also i had my wii softmodded but removed it cause it was causing more grief then it was worth. The problem is that I think that i didn't un-install it properly. Will this effect the performance of the wiikey?
