Just Bought a Wii, Should I mod it with a WiiKey?

Ok, so theres lots of people posting about what mod chip should they get and im sorry im adding to that.....

I just bought a Wii today it being AUS PAL. I dont know if the uk pal.etc are all the same. Im planning on getting it modded and have had a look around at the different chips. As the title says, im leaning towards "WiiKey". In the stickey it says stealth but not true stealth, i take it this means Nintendo may be able to see my console is modded on the internet (which it is connected to). Im not keen on that idea. Also it states that some NTSC games may work on the chip.
Does that mean If i download a ntsc game and change its reigon to pal with regionfrii it will work?

Also if not the WiiKey, what do you guys reccomend? Any think i should know NOT to do? Cheers everyone.

Welcome to the site. I bought an Offical Wiikey Chip from XboxModchips.com. I also Bought a Clear Blue Case that lights up for my Wii. You can see it in my Avatar.

I think any site would be fine to order the Wii from just make sure everything looks legit. I choose mine because of price, price of chip and case was the cheapest deal.

The mod chip will work on any country format, as the chip is not on the computer as much as it is on Drive. The only problems you might arise is the system, there is 3 versions and one is ez to mod, the second is a little more tricky and the third as of right now I think is unmodable. I personaly do not know how to tell.

The wiikey cannot be detected threw nintendo's online connection, this is because of placement on the board, all the rumors are false and I would not worry.

Now if you wish to play a NTSC game on your PAL Wii I would be careful and I would be very hesitant as you can cause you system to brick. Meaning the system is as good as a brick.

Anyways as I have typed this essay, do your research. I did and I found the WiiKey was the choice for me and I have been very happy since.

Yes i have read about the bricking issue, there are programs out that can (apparently)strip the firmware update off the game im gonna burn so it wont brick it. But Im going to be mostly hiring pal games and copying them as the local games shop rents wii games. Is the chip firmware upgrade-able? Or doesnt it use and drivers....

Team Xero the creaters of the WiiKey Say there chip is upgradable. I have downloaded a disk that upgraded the firmware. I got it from a torrent though I have heard you can download it strait from there site.

Check this site out if you insist on playing imports.

ALSO, Does bricking only occur when updating ntsc with pal and vica versa? If I download a PAL game and play it on a pal system with a lower firmware version than the disc requires, it will update the pal firmware and shouldnt brick it...?
I think i got it right, but ill make sure.

OK, so I got a wiikey installed and my retail games run fine. I have not tried any copied games yet (waiting on dvd drive). I was looking around and seen a few GCOS GC/EMU discs and thought ide give one a try seeing ive got no copies to play. I burnt the iso and inserted it in the Wii, its picked up in the game channel as a gamecube disc but when I go to "play" it it says an error has occurred can I eject the disc and could I restart. Im using Sony "Accucore" DVD-R discs.
Iso, Chip or DVD media problem?
