    Just getting into this...

I want to softmod my Wii using the twilight hack.

Is there a chance I could brick my Wii trying to do this ?

All I want to do is play backup games, so the twilight hack would be a good idea ? I really want to avoid using any kind of mod chip.

    Thanks

There is always a chance something bad will happen but if you check in the tutorial section there is a great guide for you to follow.

It's better to use a mod chip because only chips have 100% compatibility. If you're worried about soldering then get a presoldered wiikey 2 on a wii clip.

    Hold the presses!!

If you search this site for the following "Wii Clip" you will find a plethera of people who had problems with the clip. The very best thing to do is solder that puppy in. Clips are crap IMHO. And very unreliable.

I actually did a fix it job for free last month. A girl in Canada sent me her Wii to remove the WiiKey 2 from the clip to solder it in. But before she sent it,....
We tried everything to get it to work. I had her use a webcam to show me the install and clip. Checking the pins for shorts and bent ones. She showed me what happened when she pressed on the clip and when she did not press on it. Both times she got a solid red light.

She was trying so hard to install this stupid clip that I felt bad for her and told her to ship it to me and I would install it right for free...she did and is now happy.
