Make sure the update disc you have is for PAL systems.
if it's not recognizing it then something is up..
you may have a fake WiiKey bro...
Let me know if you are going to need a Official WiiKey installed...
$50. chip included.. and $15. for shipping.

i know the wiikey is not fake because it has the official wiikey hologram and when i bought the wii the storeowner updated the chip via DVD disc and then configured it with the config disc...

Okay.. is the chip soldered in or clipped?

i think it is soldered but i can't open it up to check because it will void my warrenty (i have a warrenty from the store i bought the wii from) and the wii can read any backup game so i guess it is not the problem... BTW i don't know if it will help but i have a D2B with cut pins

Then try running the update for the Wiikey2..
Maybe that's what they installed in your Wii

in the end i went to the store who sold me the wii and they updated my wiikey 1. the odd thing is, it was the disc I burned. it didn't work at my home but at the store it worked...
