    "Black Screen" on certain games...

    Hi,

I have a LU 600XXXXXXX with Wiikey II installed.
up to this point, every game I've downloaded has worked perfectly.
However, a couple of the new titles would not load after I hit the
"start" button on the wii menu.

So far, the issue has occurred to these two titles:

    1. Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles - Echoes of Time (JAP)
    2. The House of the Dead - Overkill (USA)

The image file is the correct file size, 4.37GB (4,699,979,776 |Bytes)
and the machine a read the disk properly in the wii menu, but once I
click start, it just hangs at a black screen.

I can eject the disk, but can't soft reset the Wii.

Anyone know what I should do? is my Wiikey 2 firmware due for an update?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hmmmmmmmmmmmm

Have you searched around the forum for answers yet...

you have probably 2 different problems there

what is the brand of dvd are you using?

    dvd-r or dvd +r?

    burning software?

    burn speed?

    wii fw?

foreign game , a full game or patched game?

did you wbb the ntsc-u game?

as you can see ...there can be many reasons why you get what you get....

only you have the answers to the above needed info....

so all the anwsers you need are in the burning section

    WBB = Brickblocked

DVD-R is the preferred media for the Wii......... although DVD+R will work if you set the booktype correctly

IMGBurn is a free burning program..... most here seem to like it

What region is your wii ? Firmware ? (look in the top r/h corner in your wii settings)

Updating from an "out of region" game is a sure fire way of bricking your Wii

    my firmware is 3.4U
I purchased the machine from Toys R Us, Canada, so im guessing the region is NA.

The thing is, all my other games work under the same conditions.
Only the two titles listed above have thi problem =(

    Were they scrubbed games?

I think even though they show up as the right file size unzipped if they were compressed before hand and not original size they wont work.

I think but not 100% sure.

    the files were compressed.
But that has not caused the issue before.

Depends on the compression method....... of which I have no idea
but if they were trucha signed then you ain't going to use them on 3.4

You could try running the image through iospatcher and patch to ios30 before burning to disk

Compressed as in.... split up and compressed with WinRAR... =P

I've noticed that House of the Dead was PAL. I think this is the first PAL disc I've burned,
would that have anything to do with the issue? (but that still doesn't explain why
final fantasy crystal chronicles won't work... that should be NTSC right...?)

also, I tried patching the house of the dead ISO with iospatcher 1.0 and patched it to ios30.

The disc would instantly lock up my wii giving me the "An error has occurred, please remove
the disc and refer to the wii instruction manual for more info" message.

    =(

Thank you all for your replies, I'm rather new to the Wii scene so...

Have you done what ModderMan suggested ??

Some games don't play across regions regardless of RegionFrii or any other method as of now
