I've tried everything I've been told so far.

I bought a spindle of DVD-R's, that fixed some
disc reading errors for other games, but did not
help with Final Fantasy CC: Echoes of Time

iospatcher at ios30 didn't help at all, the game
still won't go beyond the start screen

wbb causes "system file currupt errors"

after burning any game with IMGburn duplicating
the exact settings in the faq, all of them lock
up my wii instantly. I get the "please eject disc
    and refer to manual" error.

is no one else having the same problems as me
    with the same particular titles?

My Wii is at 3.2U with a WiiKey 2 v1.2 firmware and I have a similar problem with "sonic and the Black Knight" and "Need for Speed, Undercover" I read that these two require an update to 3.3 or 3.4 but there's no way I'll do this as all my other backups run flawlessly! In your case, there are probably patches to run through HomeBrew, but why bother if your other backups run?? Just my $.02.
I found another two backups that won't run: Broken Sword, Shadow of the Templars and MLB 09'. I chose the WiiKey 2 because it could play backups from any region and it's worked fine until some of the recent releases. I'm hoping a firmware update will solve this (if that ever happens)!

    Sigh....
My wii updated to 3.4U before I could install homebrew with twilight...
    That means I probably can't install Cios36 right? =(

I'm about to give up =P

You can't install any wads with 3.4 so read and follow the instructions to the letter

This happens to me often. I've understood it as a failure of 3.4 to play 'scrubbed' games. I've been too lazy to downgrade.

I have the same problem with FFCC:Echoes. Straight out of the box this would load on disk channel, but black screen after that. I run on a 3.2U with wiikey 2.

To fix this I uninstalled starfall update. Went back to disk channel and updated. This worked, and game will now play. My Wii system still reads 3.2U, and I do not know why it didnt change to 4.0, but game works, homebrew works, so I am happy.
