    Beginners Questions

I am interested in buying a mod chip but have some questiosn (some may be stupid but don't laugh)

    1. When using a mod chip does it allow it that you can download wii games and burn them onto a dvd or CD disc, or is it that you play a rented and it kind of just sticks to your wii and you can play it whenever? I have heard of these both I dont even know if either is right.

    2. Why are some mod chips like $100 and some $15? I would like to buy the cheapest one which is the wiikey, why is it so much cheaper?

    3. Is there any way that it will completely screw up my wii?, because I dont want to use it if that happens.

    Thanks for the help.

    1. There are no rented games. You either burn it onto a DVD for games or download them to your wii with wiiware and virtual console.

    2. No idea, I don't have a modchip.

    3. It is possible, so you should always follow the guides unless you know what you are doing. This does not mean that the owners of the guides are responsible if your wii gets bricked!(neither am I for saying this)

    1. a mod chip allows you play original games, games from other countries and *cough*downloaded*cough* games.
    2. just some sell them cheap others sell them dear. also, if they're cheap they could be clones. it also depends on which one you want.
    3. if you do something wrong yes. but there's no worries if you get a solderless mod chip. (i would recommend the solderless wikey2 modchip. that's the one i got and i only had one problem---: +RW discs are slower when played.

    A clearer explanation:
    1. What a modchip actually does is it sends a message to your Wii that says the disc inside is an official Nintendo-made disc. So, it allows burned discs to function.

    2. Modchips are different because of different brand, quality, reputation, and wether they're fake or not. (If you do buy a modchip DO NOT, EVER buy an Argon!)

    3. Of course, it can screw up your Wii, because the case must be opened, if during the installation the mobo gets shocked, even with a solderless, your Wii is dead.
You always take the risk of killing your Wii when you try things like this.
