    confirmation of problem re:3.4

I'm using a wiikey 2 with 3.4 firmware. I'm running across the problem of not being able to play certain games, i.e. HOD, NFS, etc. The title screen is recognized but after I press start, the wii freezes/ black screen. After reading here a bit, can I assume that downgrading to 3.2 will rectify this issue? Thanks in advance, as always.

or maybe a bad burn !! i have those two games and they are working fine, now i'm on 3.2U with all the newer wads but the first time i play them i was on 3.4U, one question, are you trying to run a pal game on ntsc or the other way around.

Thanks for that. I've burned each game two or three times with different speeds, using the preferred media and methods. So folks have actually played compressed games on 3.4? If so, maybe I'll play around a bit more. I thought the wisdom was no compressed games on 3.4 possible.

I have played new games like NCAA and Nascar carts, I just assumed that they would have had to have been compressed as well, but they play fine. As does Asterix which is a pal game (I'm Canada). Anyway, thanks!

3.3 & 3.4 are unable to play "scrubbed" games, as the trucha bug was fixed for those releases
You'll need either a 1 to 1 copy downloading or your Wii downgrading to 3.2

If the downloaded file appears on your PC hard drive as LESS than 4.7Gb - it has been "scrubbed".......... the extracted ISO will be made up to 4.7Gb

    Rossy's right

If the file is less than 4.7Gb then it's been scrubbed and you wont be able to play it with 3.4. If the games played before then downgrade back to 3.3 or 3.2.

Quite correct - I should have asked whether GC or not
The original poster was asking about 2 games he had already d/loaded HOD & NFS.............both of which ( to my knowledge) aren't Gamecube titles but as I don't bother with GC....... ?

Thanks very much gents! So what is the purpose of 'scrubbing' the iso in the first place? Is it just to reduce the size to fit on to burnable media?

When games get created, they don't always use all or 4.7Gb, so they put in filler like 0 and 1 to use up the space to make a full image.

Just to make it a smaller download.
Dual layer disks can be reduced to fit on a single layer disk but usually involves the cutting of scene change movies......... recognised on torrents with the term DVD5
