Question How exactly do set up a wiikey 2?

hey all, I have a seemly stupid questions/problem with my wiikey 2 with clip. I got the wiikey 2 pre installed form dubs outlet, taking apart the wii (D2C) to install it was easy and just pushing down to install the clip was great (hereís my question)
After putting the wii all back together and hooking it back up the cords (power ect.) and firing it back up the first screen I see is the black screen with the warning that makes up push "A" to continue to the wii menu. Nothings charged (i.e no new menu's) so I put the oem wii sports disk in and let it load, then I restarted it and the same thing no new menu's. Is this whatís meant to happen?
    thanks

thank you plexo for getting back to me, isnít there a setup menu with the wiikey 2 to disable updates or such? either way i took the wii back apart to make sure the wiikey was getting power and when the wii was powered up the wiikey flashed red to blue like 2 times. I havenít tried it with a back up yet because i havenít gotten the dvd drive i ordered yet

Goto the wiikey site and downlaod the config disk, burn the iso to a disc and run it through the wii menu, it will boot to the config menu and you can set it in there.

Make sure starfall is not installed because the disc will not work then.

    1. Install Wiikey

    2. Insert "original" own region game and boot it to set region code

    3. Download and burn Wiikey2 Config/Update disc

4.Boot config disc and update chip firmware if need be

    5. Set any options you want enabled eg "block" updates

    6. Enjoy.

why are you telling him to block all updates? that causes more problems than fixes ???

you dont need to configure ANYTHING, simply make sure the first disc you put in is of the same region of your console, what this will do is block updates from all regions except your consoles region, so if you have a PAL wii, you put a PAL disc in when u first install your wii, that means they your wiikey will block NTSC/etc updates, but will allow PAL updates.

trekster, what you are telling them to do can lead to blank screens when you try loading the game, and then for some reason other people say "you have to install homebrew to fix this"

    1. Install Wiikey
DONE: after install I hooked up power to wii to make sure it (the wiikey2) blinked red to blue like 2 times

    2. Insert "original" own region game and boot it to set region code DONE: Wii sports oem first disk i put in

    3. Download and burn Wiikey2 Config/Update disc
DONE: downloaded and burned iso to a blank dvd+r useing magic iso

4.Boot config disc and update chip firmware if need be
NOT DONE: after booting the wii to the wii menu and inserting the dvd with the wii key config/update the wii couldnít read the disc

alls i need to do is put the dvd in the drive and it should auto boot right?

if you bother to look at the wiikey2 config disc, like I have, Because i have a wiikey2, You will find that you can either a) block all updates or b) block out of region updates. If you don't understand what I talk about, Or think you can prove better then please do.

An Update Blocker feature has now been added to Wiikey 2 and is available as a DVD update in the resources section. By default, this new feature will block harmful other-region updates to your Wii, that are included in some games, but allow own-region updates. There is also a config option to block all updates regardless of region.

Now if you need more proof then that, Maybe I should make a video to prove myself right as well????

Funny, Because my wiikey never change its option when it was installed, I booted the disc and OMG look! Its not blocking anything at all........
