Wiikey 2 with d2e eproxy problem

    Hi,

I have just attempted my first install on a d2e exproxy. However when removing the eproxy I accidentially lifted point C on the board.
I soldered to the resistor instead but all I get is a solid red light. The chip I know is working fine as I just tried it on another drive.

Question is will it still work if I solder it to the resistor or not? The drive itself is still working fine, just can't seem to get this chip to run on it.

    Thanks for the future help.

You are getting a solid red light because the resistor isn't an option with a lifted pad. The lifted pad is not allowing the connection to be completed.

Clean away the epoxy from the IC legs and solder onto the IC leg and you will be good to go. Let us know how it goes.

    Thanks for the info.

Don't feel confident enough to attempt to remove more epoxy (am only using a soldering iron). Whats your best method you use to remove the epoxy?

    Regards

hi m8, best way i found with epoxy is a product called nitromors paint and varnish remover, slow process but virtally impossible to damage the wii board. see my thread titled reset problem for more info and a url to th eproduct.

You might not have Nitromors so just go and find any paint stripper that is used for wood and takes off pain/laquer/epoxy. I used a product called circa 1850. People have used other products with the same results.
