I disagree with the post that says ''pointless'' without explaining why.
Because when you ask what a thing does in an specialised forum like that, you expect (from the moderators mainly that usually know much more about the console) an explanation for what the thing you bought exactly does.
I hope i am undestandable without wanting to interfere to moderating stuff, i just say what i would like to see.
    Thanks.
i think we have a misunderstanding

    my coment was directed at
Original read speed - *** why would you need to change?****
Original DL Read spd - ***what is this? and why would you need to change?****
Backup read speed - *** why would you need to change?****
DL backup read speed - ***what is this? and why would you need to change?****
most of what it does is pointless, and theories

like it better for backups because its less strain, though no one still has a clear idea of how bad any of this is, if any and all that stuff, he said she said

I have this chip installed since yesterday.

    What is Allow System Upgrade?

I have turn off the wiiconnect option in the wii setting. So why I would need to turn it of in the chip too?

In this menu, there's no way to update the chip? How can I know the chip firmware version?

I have this chip (6 wires, yellow sticker chip) installed on a D2C Wii on firmware 3.4U. I only burn Mario Galaxy for now, and it's working perfectly.

    Thanks

From my understanding this setting is to prevent a disk from updating the system. You want this so that a pal disk doesnt brick the wii

    Ok

Region patcher let me play a PAL game on my NTSC system, and Allow System Upgrade to USA will only let NTSC wii firmware update?

Is it better to set it to NONE?

    thanks

I was just wondering what the correct order is for the discs you need to insert after you successfully solder in the chip? Is it a retail game and then the config disc or the config disc and then the retail disc?

Thanks e39 for clearing this up. Someone once said "a picture is worth a thousand words". And to cyan, you need to insert an original game disk from your region first, This sets the region on the WiiKey. You can then run the config/setup disk and after that a backup to be certain all is working correctly.
