Some questions before I proceed... (Mainly downgrading, ect)

    Hey!

Ok, I've bought a pre-soldered WiiKey2 for my chipset D2B (I opened it up to check before I bought it) and before I install it I have a few questions.

Firstly, I'm on 3.4e. Should I downgrade before, or after I've installed the chip? Does it matter? (I have a legit version of Zelda)

Should I leave a disk in the drive while installing it? (In every video I've watched people keep a disk, usually Wii Sports, in the drive)

What order should I proceed? From what I've read, is this about right?

    1 (or 2). Downgrade to 3.2e
    2 (or 1). Install chip
    3. Put in a PAL legit disk
    4. Burn and install newest firmware for WiiKey 2
    5. Burn and play games

Also, this never seems to get comfirmed from what I read; With the WiiKey2, do I still need to use BrickBlocker once I've upgraded the firmware on the WiiKey?

Whether you can answer one or all of my questions, any help is appreciated. Thanks.

You can install homebrew and downgrade 1st or install the chip.

It doesn't which matter which way you do, But if you install the chip 1st, Put in an own region game to set the region code on the chip, Then update it with the config disc.

Also you can set in the config options to block all updates.... So you should be right without needing to use brickblocker.

Great! I've just downgraded to 3.2E. Do I still need to ensure I use a PAL disk once the chip's installed? Also, do I wait for something, then put the disk in, or turn it on WITH the disk in?

    Great, thanks.

Ah, also... I won't be able to burn any disks till tomorrow, can I use the chip without updating, or does it have to be updated?

Personally, I'd do the chip first. This way, you can really troubleshoot much easier.

If you do the downgrade, feel free to install StarFall, but don't enable any of its features. StarFall + certain modchips = trouble

Thanks for all the help guys, everything seems to be running fine.

One last question. I want to play DVD's on my Wii, and I'm going to install DVDX from Homebrew Browser. Is the WiiKey2 DVD compatable or not? (I need to select one or the other, and I'm not sure which the Wiikey is)

Irrespective of which way you went, As soon as the chip was installed you need to boot a own region game (Id use an original), You can put it in and turn it on, Turn it on and put it in, I don't think that really matters, Just play the game so that the region code sets correctly

You should be able to use the chip, But some games might give error#002, which to fix you usually update your chip.

I don't quite understand what you mean, But using homebrew to play dvds via dvdx has nothing to do with your chip as far as I know, Playing dvds can be done, But it does wear your laser out quicker. So thats something you need to think about also.

Yeah, sorry. The guide I was using was terrible. I didn't need to know. Yup, I'm aware of that, I'm only going to use it for other region DVD's (since I have alot of Anime that's not my region) since those won't play on my DVD player.

Thanks for all the help guys - genuinely. I've gone from being bored to playing the N64 version of Super Smash Bro's, and loads of backups, for less than 40.

    Thanks!
