installed fusion, worked once and quit

hey all, new to this wii thing but have experience modding other consoles.

just bought a new black wii a few weeks ago and got a fusion chip, no idea what version it is, but it was brand new. installed it and got some games on the sd card and it worked one time, now it says error reading disk (sd) every time, even during a firmware update.

i'm not familiar with these systems but read something about a softmod, do i need to do this to get the thing back working again?

    any help is greatly appreciated

<edit> the only thing i want to do is play backed up games with this and nothing else... have no desire to get all crazy with the system

is the fusion chip up to date?
have you tried removing the chip and seeing if the wii will still read original discs?

Did I come off like a jerk?? Read more here

thanks for the reply, i got it fixed last night though.

the 1.0 firmware the fusion ships with, sometimes requires you to completely unplug the wii instead of turning it off and back on. after unplugging it, the fusion worked and i loaded the 1.5 firmware on first thing and everything has been fine since
