Impossible to update WiiKey Fusion firmware!

Have black Wii with system firmware 4.3u/softmodded, replaced my D4 drive with a D2C drive, installed wii fusion, boot up super mario galaxy backup and works fine. But trying to update my wii fusion is driving me absolutely insane, so much WASTED TIME! Not only does it take forever to even get the wii fusion sd card reader/gamecube channel to boot/work, but even when I do get there all I get is a message that'll say "get header err" then go to the main menu of the chip and it'll just keep saying "Mounting..." pressing A won't do anything or if it does load I get a bunch of numbers and I it'll say exception dsi error or something like that. I can go to the configuration of the chip like changing region free and all that and change it but those settings won't save and so I can NOT update my freakin 1.0 firmware to any newer firmware! Broken chip? Broken SD card reader? I just want to crush this thing and throw it in the garbage! :mad:

You likely got wiigator screwing you over. You will have to go through the DarkCorp uninstall guide.

You can use a gamecube controller to navigate when changing the settings in the wiikey fusion menu. Use the D-pad to move up and down.

That was a problem befor but uninstalled wii gator. With wii gator it wasnt able to even get to the main menu.

Since I can't really see what it is doing exactly, I can only guess at what your cause can be:
A. your dip switch settings are wrong
B. Loose cable on either the JTAG or the cable from the wii to the WKF.
C. you didn't uninstall and fix all of the wiigator issue.
D. Your using a SD card the wiikey fusion (WKF) doesn't like. (For this one, use a 2GB Non SDHC with the update only on the SD card. You have to be using the WBFS Manager to put the update on the SD card. WKF doesn't support updating from a FAT32 formated SD.)


Try going through that check list.

Did you manage to update your wiikey fusion. I had the same problem on my wii, (with both softmod and wiikey fusion).
I had to install MIOS-64-v10.wad. with wad manager to sort out wiigator, as it was loading up when clicking on gamecube icon to update fusion.
Hope you've already sorted your problem.

Nope. I alread did the MIOS, wiigator is not the problem, I fixed that way in the beginning. My problem is that I can barely even get the gamecube channel/update menu to appear and also when it finally decides to work after a million resets I get to the wiifusion menu and all it says is "mounting" and I can also select to change the wii fusion settings which don't save when changed anyway. The firmware update just won't show up, just says mounting or some kind of error. I use the program and format the card the way I'm supposed to, used 2 different sd cards, non-sdhc and one that is, doesn't matter, will just keep saying mounting, no matter what and press A on it and it does nothing!

Your settings didn't stick because you didn't use a gamecube controller to config the settings, you need to use the dpad to move up and down and left and right and the A button to select the changes; then there is the save config at the bottom of the menu. Using the reset button on the wii only moves the selector down the list.

As for not getting the update to run, you use it like a game select the game then restart the wii. Apon restarting and starting the gamecube menu, the updater will kick in.

"Mounting" errors means you ejected the SD from the reader while the wii was still on.

I didn't know any other way to use the menu besides the gamecube controller, thats what I used. I pressed A to save changes and that doesn't do anything. My main problem is I can't it to say anything besides mounting! Also super frustrating problem of reseting the wii a million times just to even get to the damn menu.

I have the same problem. I suspect I may have accidentally ruined the cable that goes from the circuit board to the sd reader. I wonder if there's a replacement for that, or if I have to cut up a disc drive cable.
