Using an older Wii Drive on a newer Wii Console

Well, my old Wii went kaput. Probably because I screwed it up somehow. I went a bought a new black WII but with the DVD drive that won't read burned DVD-rs. I installed the Wiikey fusion. Well, its kinda inconvenient for my kid to go through the reset etc and install new games every time he wants to play a new game.

Can I swap out the new DVD drive with my old one and played the burned DVD-rs?

Most ,if not all black wii's have D4 boards PCB can't swap cause of the physical difference in the boards.
.You can however swap the entire drive, PCB and cddrive .

i have a similar dilemma ,so i have an old wii with a drive that can play burned games ,but it wont read any discs, so if i were to go buy a new wii today, then would i be able to find one that has a drive that i could take out and remove the dvd drive board from and replace it with my broken dvd drives drive board that will make it read the burned discs? then put it in my old wii?

or if i cant do that then could i maybe use the laser from the new drive to fix my old drive?

or should i just sell the new drive and sell the board from the old drive that can read burned discs,and then use the money to but a replacement drive that reads burned discs?

i thought that all the drives and boards were interchangeable ,cause i have looked and foud people selling non d2e boards to put in newer drives to make them read burnt discs , i thought that all the drives were made by matsushista


oh btw i found my drives chipset on wiidrives site its a GC2-DMS chipset
so will this board work in a drive that i take out of a wii i get new from the store now in the U.S. ?

or if not will i be able to use the laser from the new wiis' dvd drive to put into my old wiis' GC2-DMS chipset dvd drive?

im hoping i can tweak the pot and then it will work again ,as i have already tried the official wii dvd drive lens cleaner several times with no luck, or maybe ill get lucky and when i get in there it will just be a slipped belt or a simple fix ,but this thing is 1st production run although it was rarely used
