Question DVD Driver does not work anymore (even with original games)

    Hi all,

A installed a new wiikey fusion and upgraded it to 1.4, but the DVD driver doesn't work anymore. A canīt even remove a game from the driver. I expected that it wonīt work with backup DVDs, but freeze the driver??? The lights of the driver turns on. Play with SD driver is working fine.

Anybody had this problem? Any help??

    Thanks,

    Dagoberto

Try disconnecting the ribbon cable from the Fusion SD reader. My DVD won't work with it connected.

If you have wiigator installed, it is not playing nice with the hardmodded wiiikey fusion setup. It is the problem for several people with wiikey fusions already.

As for not backing up drives here is a chart for what drive you got:

Take the time to look what is printed on the PCB when installing the wiikey fusion. Using a website to guess what you got by serial number is a waste of time, really.

If you have wii firmware of 4.2 or 4.3 or higher and it is not softmoded, it means that the wii firmware is detecting the wiikey fusion and basically makes the wii freeze and lock up until you remove the modchip. You will have to softmod and remove the stubs to continue.

Thanks for your answer! I think there was some connection problem with the driver. I opened up the Wii again, redid the connections and the driver started to work with original games.

My Wii have a 4.3U menu and D3-2 drive chipsets. I tried to run games with Kingston 16GB class 4 and Kingston 32GB class 6 SD cards, but it freese after I select the game. For while it worked only with a SanDisk 2GB class 2.... :-/

There was something about certain brands of SD cards (includes microSD, miniSD, etc) that sucked like hell reguardless of what you did or what class it was. I'll have to look it up again to be sure.

I think it was something like if it was manufactured in Taiwan or China (don't quote this, not totally sure at the moment), they are not formated correctly and mess up anything if it is accessed via the low level hardware. You have to fix it with formatting it correctly with the panisonic formater.

This is the issue with AP in certain DS games and crap microSD cards (currently so with games like Golden Sun: Dark Dawn). There is a whole thread on gbatemp trying to identify all crap microSD or how to avoid them by identifying them to avoid with AP games.

Sandisk pretty much owns the SD standard. But they sell only class 2 and class 4 at expensive prices. I have a 16GB PQi SDHC class 6 in mine.
