Wiikey fusion not reading any discs

    Hey guys,

I've just installed a Wiikey fusion v1.4 into a brand new console, its been downgraded to 4.2 system menu.

I've tried swapping the chip, replacing the ribbons but still no go.. The disc spins up and then kind of clicks and then spins down.

If i unclip the Wiikey fusion and plug it back in it without the chip in circuit it works fine.

    prolly a dud wiikey

    Is the console black?

If so then DVD backups will not work. I'm not sure about normal disks tho.
If none are working then you probably have a dud cord somewhere.
Or the wiikey fusion itself could be a dud if it works fine when you remove it.

If I were you I'd contact your seller of the Wiikey and tell them it's not working.
If they don't send you a new one you can always Softmod the wii for the same results.

    Maufrog's guide is god-tier lol

Your main problem is your version - 4.2.

You won't get anywhere until you softmod the Wii.

You have to downgrade the version to 4.1 and add a whole whack of software that is included in the tutorial for softmodding v4.2 Wiis.

I did this and got somewhere - finally [it's only been 5 fu*king months] but now I can't play a lot of games.
I tried updating the softmod and now I can't play games I could play before.
    I can't update the Wiikey version to 1.4 - it's stuck on 1.0.

This Wiikey fusion really is a total piece of sh*t as far as being a simple mount and play device.

I'm not stupid - but I don't want to read for 3 days to figure-out stuff I shouldn't have to even know.

The misinformation included with the Wiikey Fusion's ads and promotions is phenomenal.

Good luck is all I can say - but start by getting rid of your Wii's version 4.2

Actually I have had this issue now with 2 wii, both are D2E chipset, however this is irrelevant as changing the drive makes no difference. I also tried different fusion chip and nadda.

I wrote to wiikey as a volume use of wiikey fusion i though we might get a reply. Not Yet.

One of the wii system menu was 3.x so the O/S version does not seem to be a issue, actually in desperation we ended up updating the console before we ended up giving up and returning the console unmodified....we don't do soft mods here.

The second wii does exactly the same and has the same d2E chip, this one has is at 4.2E.

But the next wii we see works fine, even with the fusion that did not work in the other consoles. We also tried every region switch....just for something to try.

Both units work playing games off SD card, but will not read original wii disks, one of them seems to occasionally read a gamecube backup. they spin up then click....then spin up again to the point where you think its going to work, then clicks again...then keeps clicking.

I think I will order a new bunch of Wodes
