Do Not Buy A Wiikey Fusion

Do not buy a Wiikey Fusion until they figure out how to make it work properly.

You can read here all the problems people are having - including myself.

Not to mention that there isn't anything close to clear in the way of instructions on how to take the Wii apart in the first place - let alone mount this "simple to install :046:" device.

If a company offers a new product, they must not assume that everyone purchasing it has purchased a similar item in the past.

I had no idea how to open the Wii. I guessed some of the screws would be hidden under little pieces of tape or rubber feet - but it was just that - a guess.

I ended-up having to resort to a Spanish Youtube video - the only Fusion video available on Youtube to date!

Wiikey Fusion Announced! Welcome to the official website of Wiikey! better make their site - at least the "Fusion" section - far more detailed with "how to" information and "what the helck is wrong" sections.

I wasted time and money with this electronic abortion and I'm pissed.

I realize Wiikey has a huge name for itself - but my virgin attempt at using one of their products - based entirely on their reputation - has not impressed me at all.

I'll do this - because I'm not here to bash Wiikey. But we need to know the truth about this new device.

So many people's posts on this item - the many I have found - are rife with questions and problems.

IF there is an absolute fix, I'll be the first to rant about how great it is!

Until that time, I can only leave my somewhat graffic diss you see above me here!

So you know - before you purchase any device - make certain your serial number tells you the chip you must acquire and that chip's limitations.

Some of the newer Wiis will only work with the SD card and will not play DVD/ISO discs. This is clearly stated on the site.

The D3-2 chip is one such chip that will only play the SD games - but even this isn't working for me at this time.

To know how to take apart your Wii - like my problem being my firt time and all - there is a great how-to thread in this forum.

Be sure to remember where the longer and shorter and black and silver screws came from - there are 3 or 4 different screw lengths and coarsness.

This is not a bump - just an amendment to let those who have read it reconsider if I get some help with this.

I would have to agree with you completely.

I just installed my Wiikey Fusion, which honestly wasn't to hard.

However here are my current frustrations.

1. Sd cards come in increments of 4 and 8 gigs. The average wii iso is 4.38 gigs. So I need to buy $25.00 8gig sd card with almost 3 gigs of wasted space just to play one back up. It would be cheaper to just buy a used wii game as ones back up.

2. NO F****** INSTRUCTIONS! I have absolutely no idea what file type i need a back up to be in. Furthermore I can't get a stupid iso onto an sd card even though I have a newly formatted 8gig sd card. This is very frustrating, i honestly wish I would have bought a sunkey.

3. I will not be purchasing another wiikey. . . ever.

Format the card with WBFS, it adds compression to the card, you can get 2 games on an 8 gig card, 4 on a 16 etc.. Cards will only get bigger and prices will drop I'm sure. You can also just burn the games onto a DVD-R and play them off that to.

Format SD card with this program then use it to add ISO's to your SD card it compresses them for you to a tiny size normally.

everything will work fine it just takes 5 minutes on google to find this out. if dvd's don't work u probably have a newer wii which won't allow burned dvds to be used so SD is only option. Make sure you use clean iso's none of these newer 'fixed' ones

mattmm70 - I do not have a newer Wii. I've checked-out a lot of possible problems that may have been caused by me.
I posted my Wii Chip type - somewhere - and it is NOT a new one.
I formatted everything about 50 times with WBFS on different cards. Sandisk etc.
Everything does NOT work fine taking 5 minutes on google. The chip is a f*c*-up.

Dude, read the fourth post back and you will see I didn't just slap the thing together knowing nothing.
I have an older chip.
I even warned people about what to expect when buying a chip as per the D3-2 models.

well your chip must be damaged send it back and get a new one mine worked perfect as soon as installed with DVD backups took a while to get SD's to work but the problem was the iso.

There were problems with the cables that link it together from certain suppliers return it ask for money back buy from someone else most likely not wiikey's fault and actually is the supplier.

You might be right.
But the serial number matches the manufacturers records.
You need this number to access their updates.

I checked the narrow cable linking the SD and the chip - it is the correct one.
So if the chip is faulty it is the fault of the manufacturer either way.

You say yours works perfectly.
Do you mean the SD reader works perfectly?
What "iso" problem did you have?

Have you played DVDs on the Wii - by inserting the game into the DVD drive?
I am not the only one with problems - so it is not an isolated case.

A few manufactures were sending out incorrect cables that link the drives together there appears to be no difference in the cable except that it won't load anything. Contact your supplier ask for a new chip they should replace it for you no problems. The cable issue was fairly wide spread so not surprised there are a number of cases. A FW update isn't gonna fix it

Everything works perfectly DVD backups and SD card games. The iso problem was with certain games like NSMB and SMG 2 because ppl were releasing fixed iso's these don't work with wiikey fusion and cause system errors and things like that making u need to restart your wii. But aslong as you get a clean iso like a scene release all is fine.
