    Fusion update launch issue

    Hey techies.

This is for those of you who have had success adding the 1.2 update: how do you get the update to launch? I mean, I've put the iso on an SD card; the card is in the SD bay; the Gamecube 'disc' shows in the disc channel; when I select it, I get the menu of the SD card showing the 1.2 update... but nothing I do causes it to launch? What am I missing?

I know it's going to be something small and easy, but damn, I'm stumped.

    Thanks,
    Mike

    Burning To Disc

I believe I have read that the SD does not upgrade with a Disc.

My problem with trying this is that one of the fixes the upgrade is supposed to aid - has occurred. I have a disc STUCK in the DVD drive.

I've tried everything I have read on fixing my fusion.

It does not work at all.

I have a disc stuck in the drive - will not eject no matter what.

The SD reader mounted on the outside - the Wiikey addition - will not read the formatted SD with the alleged fixes.

Major problems here with the Wiikey Fusion.

I posted my issues at a post titled "Do Not Buy A Wiikey Fusion"

I am awaiting assistance - if I can fix my Wii - Wiikey - I'll post the fixes immediately for everyone to see.

To date there are a great many problems - and NO fixes!

I tried the disc approach, and it didn't work for me either.

I eventually got the update on the chip. For me, the trick appears to be having nothing but the update on the SD card. When I removed the couple games that were on the card, and nothing but the update appeared in the channel menu, I was able to press and hold the RESET button for a few seconds and the console rebooted and auto-launched the update.

The chip is still a POS. For example, is it just me? or is this chip designed to cause the power light to go completely out?
Next, booting games... holy hannah, talk about hit and miss. I'd guess that maybe a third of the games I've inserted work. The rest error out, or tell me to "please insert a disc" when I launch a game from a disc. Nice.
Also, I still haven't figured out how to select a game from the SD card. I've got a 16Gb card with 6 games on it. No clue how to navigate down the list and pick a game.

I can't believe we waited, what, 7 months (at least) while the wiikey team was supposed to be adding features and testing this POS, to end up having so many issues.

    Ca Making The Thing Work!

I don't know if this helps.

It doesn't help me because all I have is a disc stuck in the drive and no SD recognized.

BUT, it does have this little "help" section at the good old - never updated - Wiikey.cn site:

    Operation Guide

    1) Write games to SD card
Download WBFS Manager or Wii Backup Manager and use it to write .iso games to an SD card using your PC.

    2) Play!
Insert the SD card into the Wiikey Fusion card reader and start up the Wii.

You will see that the disc channel shows a GameCube game. Launch it.

The Wiikey menu will load. Use the reset button (quick press) to move from game to game (or to the config option)

When you have chosen the game you want, press the reset button (long press) and the Wii will restart. When it finishes restarting, your chosen game will appear in the disc channel. Launch it and it will play.

If you have a GameCube controller, you can use that instead of the reset button.

To switch games, go to the disc channel and press the 'eject' button on the front of your Wii.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Notice there are F-A instruction on how to play a disc. Notice they say there is a Gamecube game - somewhere.

I don't see anything to date.

I just took my system apart again. I have the correct SD ribbon - opposite sided contacts at either end.

I mounted it correctly. It's as if there isn't a chip in there.

The Wii menu loads. If I put something in the Wii SD drive - it reads that.

There has been no reply from China about my problems - from the Wiikey.cn site via there contact form.

I guess Nintendo bought them out.

Use a gamecube controller D-pad, press up or down to navigate. You can lock in the selection by pressing any button on the gamecube controller or pressing left or right. On the Wii, you use the reset button to navigate.

Use the power button if holding down on the reset doesn't reboot the wii for you after you lock in the selection.
