Wii Key Fusion Problems: Unable to recognise disk and broken DVD drive

Donesn't seem good so far. I've new to modding the Wii and decided on a Wiikey fusion. Despite reading the instruction carfully I managed to boot my wii firstly without reconnecting the dvd power cable, and then with the DVD to MOD cable upside down. My DVD made a bit of a rough spining noise and hasn't worked since.

Now this wouldn't be so bad as my Fusion should still boot from SD card. However whenever I insert a SD card and click the disk channel I always get a 'not formatted in WBFS' error message.

I am using WBFS manager 2.5 to put iso's on and have previously formatted the SD cards to Fat32.

    Any suggestions?

I am having a similar problem and have posted feedback on the wiikey website, but no response yet. I have done everything to the dot on instructions, and when I load any backup game it will load it, and eventually have a screen (for every game) that says "Please insert [Game Title] into DVD drive to continue"... Basically the same as to be unable to recognize the disc. In addition to this, sometimes I cannot eject the disc in the drive, which happens to be at random times. I have spent basically all weekend working on my wii and have gotten little to nowhere. Anyone that has any advice, I'm all ears.

But I can't actually get the WiiKey to update as it won't recognise the SD card the update will be on.

Ok so did you format the card using WBFS? Try using the later version 3 i believe. Also you need to add the update to the card using WBFS. Once this is done. LEave the wii off, then insert the SD card. Then poweron the Wii, i found on mine that if i put the sd card in when the wii is on it will not recognise the card. Also make sure there is no disk in the drive when you turn on the wii with the sd card entered. It should then show a Gamecube icon i believe it it in the game channel, launch this, then go to start. This should then boot into the Wiikey Menu, you need to press rest on the wii to move around the menu, once you are on the update wiikey option keep your finger on reset i think it is. This should update. Also make sure the ribbon is connected to the sd card reader correctly.

I have had the same luck putting a wiikey fusion into 3 different wii's all are different ages so its not an OS issue. I am not new to hardmodding but I like the drivekey better arghhhh

    Ca No Solution

There are a lot of problems.

One poster here says the fix worked.

I'd love to know how - because that is the only person whom I have read had success with this item.

I'm reading on how to reflash the chip with the latest upgrade.

There are currently only 2 simple upgrades - one on June 2 and one on June 8.

    My questions are:

Do I need to mount BOTH on the SD card - or only the June 8 one as it is the newest.

What is the truth behind the small long SD ribbon cable being the wrong one? How do I know if I have the correct one?

The Wiikey dot cn site has NO help other than their latest lame crap from late June.

I JUST sent them a note about my problem and my "Don't Buy A Wiikey Fusion" post here.

We'll see if there is a fix - I'll be one of the first to post when/if this happens.

I have more faith - than lack-there-of for the Wiikey team; given their history/reputation.

Unless NINTENDO has bought them-out for a whack of money - and we never heard about it! This would explain the HUGE lack of support!

It is likely you have your DIP switches all inverted, so for PAL for example, try moving all of the DIP switches to the opposite direction and I bet it will work. The guide on Wiikey is very deceiving putting the switches as dull and the blank parts as bright white!

I can confirm the Wii Fusion works on the very latest Wii drives and consoles (purchased 28th Sept 2010) and can also confirm if I place the DIP switches in the wrong place I get your exact symptoms.
