    WiiHacks Holiday Season Drawing

    WiiHacks Holiday Season Drawing

At this time of year, many of us are very busy with travel, holiday visits and hosting responsibilities, shopping, and more. We have decided to merge the November and December monthly drawings into one big Holiday Season Drawing giving you more more time to make qualifying donations.

To enter the WiiHacks Holiday drawing, make a donation of at least USD $5.00, through PayPal, to WiiHacks between November 1 and December 31, 2010. Use the DONATE button. More information on donation levels HERE. See the Monthly Contests Forum HERE for more details on the WiiHacks Holiday Drawing.

    How to Enter

Each USD $5.00 donation, made through PayPal to WiiHacks, is credited with one draw. There is no limit on either the number or amount of donation, so a USD $20.00 donation will yield 4 draw credits. As each USD $5.00 donation is good for one draw credit, donors issued multiple drawing credits can win multiple times.

    Prizes

First Prize: A Western Digital 1TB external USB hard disk drive will be awarded to the winner. Two first prizes will be awarded.

Second Prize: A Nintendo Wii MotionPlus. The Wii MotionPlus must be used with the WiiMote, which is not part of the prize package. Three Second Prizes will be awarded.

Third prize: USD $10.00 GameStop Gift certificates. Two GameStop gift certificates will be awarded. The GameStop gift cards are being generously donated by emuhack.

Bonus WiiHacks Holiday Thank You Prize: Any donation, made during this period, of more than USD $10.00 will receive an invitation to the private tracker PWN. Donation must be over USD $10.00.

All prizes must be claimed within 45 days of the drawing results announcement or the prize will be automatically forfeited. WiiHacks reserves the right to use forfeited prizes in a future drawing.

Good luck to all and thank you for your donations!!

Good luck to everyone who enters! Those 1TB WD drives are very nice.

Woot! I am so glad there is a good one this month. If I donate over $10, I will probably give away that PWN invitation. Isn't it a torrent site or something?

I know torrents aren't only used for piracy, but I am still suprised that invites are a reward.

    Justin,

You are correct in that torrents may or may not be used for piracy. Because a substantive number of members explore modding the Wii in order to make backups or to protect their investment in those expensive Wii game discs, we do have a desire to provide some assistance. The invites are prized because the PWN Network is well-run, well-staffed, and the quality is high. So many sites used extensively by pirates not only often have bad ISOs or even provided downloads that contain malware, but some sites actually prey on their members.

Our site rules and guidelines are clear about the issue of piracy (theft), but we do differ from Nintendo and some country copyright laws in supporting one's right to make a backup of legally purchased game discs and of course, the right to modify the Wii console to improve its utility and convenience for its legal owner. Accordingly, we think providing access to a quality site such as PWN is worth the few members who might take advantage of their opportunity to steal.

I was dismayed when trying to make backups of my purchased movie DVDs to learn that there were no legitimate means to do so and I had to use the sites and tools of pirates. I hope that WiiHacks and PWN provides a more secure, safe, and quality environment for what I hope is the majority of members who just need to protect those expensive discs.
