I've been on the forum for a few days now and I still have the "Why not start with your first post..." notice at the top of the screen so I may as well post it here.
I'm a mod on a car forum elsewhere on the net and I too get fed up with people being too lazy to use the search function or even Google things. The standpoint of the staff here is a very good one, even though it is a "tough love" scenario. If newbies are allowed to ask the same questions over and over again it stagnates the growth of the forum. The place doesn't progress and new issues or discoveries don't get unearthed because we're all telling people what Homebrew is (again and again).
So although some people may think it's a tough stance by the staff team, personally I welcome it.
Thanks to the efforts of those who have been kind enough to put together tutorials, I've managed to softmod my Wii, install Homebrew, get Priiloader and Bootmii protection and run games from a USB drive without asking a single question.
Now that I've got all that happening I'm starting to work my way through the various threads on here so I can learn about what is actually happening as part of these installs and get a better understanding of softmodding the Wii in general. If I can do this why can't everyone?
People need to realise the difference between those who volunteer to contribute to a site like this and Nintendo Customer Service! If they don't like being told the difference, let them go somewhere else.
Keep up the good work and thanks for all the contritbutions so far.
