Wii booting but unable to connect any remotes

Hi all

First thing to say is - I've searched on this problem but found nothing that covers exactly what's happened to me. The problem though is that I'm probably not describing the issue correctly or looking for the right thing. If this has been covered I'm very sorry and would really appreciate pointing in the right direction.

Ok, now to the problem. I want BBC iPlayer and went to download it from the Shopping Channel. It asked for an update (which I didn't do) so I searched here for a solution.
I found this thread - http://www.wiihacks.com/other-faq-gu...annel-v20.html
I have posted this question in this thread but so far have no response. I'm guessing that I may get a quicker response in the Newb area

I'll copy/paste the question here to save opening of new windows:

Got a UK Wii (can't remember if it's 4.2 or 4.3 atm) and wanted to put BBC iPlayer on. Went to the shop channel and said it needed to update. So I found this thread and hoped it would work.
I did the online guide but found I didn't have IOS56 installed. When I tried installing it I got messages telling me it wasn't on the SD card.
So I used the link in the offline guide to download it, put it on the SD card and installed it.
It seemed to go ok so I then went to change it from my current (58 I think) to 56.
When I pressed A to confirm it the Wii made a noise like it had just been turned on or was going back to the system menu. Nothing happened on screen for a while and the remote wasn't responding so I turned it off and back on. When it came back on none of the remotes would connect. Eventually it went through to the system menu but still none of the remotes responded (just flashing lights).

Now tonight I've tried to re-sync the remotes but still can't connect. I know it's not bricked as it doesn eventually pass the H&S disclaimer and go to the System Menu, I just can't do anything.

Would really really appreciate any help given.

Thanks for reading!

Well had something similar happen to me the other day when I played Zelda:SS for the first time-when I restarted my console the remotes would not sync even when I was trying to resync them over and over. Simple solution for me though-unplug your Wii from the power point for about 2 minutes and try again, it worked wonders!

Worked! :-D
And also once I started it up, the Shopping Channel worked so I've now got iPlayer too! Thanks!
