Wii Hacking Noob - Need some advice.

I've done a bit of console hacking, mainly for my PS2(fully softmodded, using SMB via OpenPs2Loader.), I'm just starting on my Wii, and there is a lot of info to take in. (I've started reading it, but, there are way more options for the Wii than for PS2.)

I'm running a Wii with the v4.3u system menu.

I installed HBC + BootMii(IOS) via an SD card(LetterBomb), I've also backed up my NAND, what I would like to do, is get rid of the SD card reliance. (ie, I have USB drives that I would prefer using, since the SD card is from my phone, and can't be in the Wii all the time.)

I can't seem to figure out what my best option is(PriiLoader\WiiBrew\UsbLoader\etc), there are many available, and even then, I'm not sure any of them will work without a dedicated SD card.

I really just need pointed in the right direction for making this work, if it's even possible, if not I'll need to wait until I can get a dedicated SD card.

(If you need any additional info, please just ask, I've provided everything that I thought was relevant.)

    Thanks.

Yea If I were you, Id do exactly what you said and get a dedicated sd card just to avoid alot of compatibility problems. Ive come to experience that not all homebrew apps work with usb, and all pretty much all homebrew apps can be accessed via sd card. Make sure the sd card is 2gb sd card because the wii cant read anything higher then that.

Any app can be loaded from a USB drive, but not all of the apps themselves have USB support (sysCheck, BrawlStats, etc.). Some things are just more of a pain to set up to use a USB drive (like some USB loaders). BootMii won't load without an SD card, and you can't autoboot anything through Priiloader without an SD card. Your best bet is to just pick up a card to dedicate to the Wii. It will make your life much easier, trust me.

    Not true.

    Not true.
Really? I read that somewhere and just kind of ran with it, I apologize for the misinformation if what i said is not true (in terms of the whole 2gig sd card)

I've been looking at the SanDisk 2GB, however, there are various models by them, that use this capacity, I know to use an SD card, not an SDHC(or whatever), but I'm not sure which one is compatible.

    Newegg.com - Sandisk SD

This link(if this site allows it.) is a NewEgg search containing various models, could you point me to one that would work? (Hopefully the $6 model, that's cheap.)

I see, hmm, sounds like getting an SD card is my best bet then.

You say it can read bigger SD cards, what advantages would that have, I mean, is it fast enough to run game backups, or would a 2GB SD + some usb loader application, be better for that purpose?

I'd like to be able to do it all, WiiWare, VC, backups, apps, etc,. (I'm leaning towards USB drives, but, I'm new to this, so I just want to invest in the proper equipment for my needs.)

never heard of a SDHC adapter, unless you are referring to a SD to microSD adapter...

Not true either. You need the sd card to install the file but after that you do not need it.

A 2GiB SanDisk non-SDHC card is compatible with everything. However, different brands, sizes, and types can work. A lot of the time they work just fine (most apps support SDHC now). If you wan't to be on the safe side, go with the 2GiB SanDisk non-SDHC. If you're willing to buy and try, test some different ones.

Interesting, this might be the way to go to get me running until I can get an SD card ordered\purchased.

I thought I had read PriiLoader could do this, but, as you've seen, there is a lot of conflicting information on this subject. (Various sites, post, etc, around the web, have got me kind of lost.)

Could you point me towards a proper source for getting PriiLoader running? (I think I need to install a cIOS(for the "Trucha Bug"), but, I'm not sure, again, conflicting info.)

Thanks for all your answers thus far everyone, it's very much appreciated.
