    Different Way of Checking for Burnt Backup Compatibility?

    I haven't softmodded my Wii yet. I'd like to, but I want to retain the ability to play burnt backups. I saw the site that tells you you're compatibility based on your serial number. I passed (makes sense, got my Wii the second week of its release). But, since then I have had my Wii serviced by Nintendo. The disc drive was replaced just last year.

    How can I tell what it was replaced with and if its compatible with burnt backups? Also, does that affect the boot2 scenario or anything?

    you could take the wii apart and check the serial number for the drive.. Pretty sure they wouldnt have use an out dated drive though....
