USB Loader not finding my USB Drive

Hello. I cannot get CFG USB Loader 70 to find my USB Drive. It is plugged into the slot closest to the edge of the Wii. The drive is a Western Digital 250GB WD2500 which is on the compatiblity list. I have a 4.3U Wii. I used the Letterbomb to MOD my Wii and followed the instruction exactly as in "Softmod any Mii" and everything went fine. I then formatted my drive exactly per instructions using EASEUS Partition Master. Note that I can use the drive with WiiMC with no problem. I then tried the d2x and hermes updates to no avail. Here is my syscheck:

    Thank you for your help.

Are you certain the game partition is set to primary and active?

I just reformatted using EASEUS following the instructions in the FAT32 Guide and made certain I created as Primary and set it active. Also, I've tried going through the "Softmad any Wii" steps again exactly and I still can't get it to find the drive. And it still works with WiiMC with no problems. I appreciate the help.

Try using USB Loader GX. Sometimes these problems can appear in one loader but not another.

Have you made sure that any sort of sleep/power saving mode is disabled?

Wouldn't that lead to a different problem where the loader picks it up, but after a few minutes doesn't show the HDD anymore?

Ok I just tried using USB Loader GX and it doesn't find my drive either. About the power issue - I thought of that too so I power on my drive about 1 minute before I start the loader. Is it time to try another drive? I don't know why it works with WiiMC though.

That is a symptom yes - games freezing after a few minutes etc. If the drive already is in sleep mode maybe the loader isn't picking it up. Just trying to eliminate all other possibilities before saying to just abandon CFG in favor of another loader. Also, the OP stated he followed the ANY Wii guide, so he also has WiiFlow available.

EDIT: WiiMC doesn't use cIOS, it only requires the HBC and IOS58. You could try installing d2x v6 base 56 in slot 248 to see if that helps. Guide for d2x is in my sig (use the installer). If that doesn't work you can use the installer to put v7 back on and try a different drive.

Ok I did what you said and installed d2x v6 base 56 in slot 248 and that didn't work. I verified with syscheck that IOS248[56] (rev 21006, Info: d2x-v6). Time to try another drive?

I remember seeing an issue awhile back where the user updated the firmware for his WD hdd and it started working after that. If you want to give that a try go for it. If you are fed up, then I say yes, go for another drive. Sorry I don't have a quick fix for ya...
