Rare Questions can't find answers to about 4.3e anyone experienced help?

Hello everyone yes i am a noob so bare with me but i have been reading watching and learning
all about the wii since i got it, basically i have seen so many guides i have read so many posts
watched so many video's but none really seem to hit on the subject of the following topics.

Please note everything i talk about here is purely for learning experience only and the age old
curiosity has really got the better of me wondering just how things are done since it seems really complicated.

Let me begin today i softmodded my Wii v4.3e using letterbomb
(waited years for something as simple and easy as this to come out)

All went well, so then decided to install the homebrew channel as i love to mess with freeware on the pc.
i just couldn't wait to see what freeware stuff was available not commercial so installed that.

Then installed the homebrew browser to see what the interface was like and what utils it had to offer.
again more curiousity than anything else.

Here is where things are getting clouded for me and was hoping to get some help from people
experienced in dealing with the 4.3e firmware.

1.) i have read up about the whole Trucha Bug and what it is how it works
but on all the videos/tutorials i have read and seen about installing a wad manager or wad installer
it never mentions anything about if you need to downgrade anything and install this exploit/bug back in?

so my first question is this. If you have 4.3e and homebrew installed and want to install a wad manager
do you need to patch/downgrade and install this bug?? and more so is there any difference between a wad installer and wad manager?

2.) if there is a difference between wad manager or installer which do you use?

3.) on all the guides it explains what a wad is but doesn't explain really how to get a wad/game file installed
(game file as in homebrew games or personal backed up games again this is just curiosity not that i have any games backed up)
but since everyone is showing video's of how to run your own backup games i been looking into rawdump to experiment backing a game up
just to test it out and see how it all works.

4.) if this trucha bug is put back into my 4.3e does this mean that the wii can then read any discs i insert?
(not much is mentioned about this trucha bug and what benefits it actually gives you to a softmodded wii)

there is probably a lot more i would like to know about the 4.3e but can't think of right now
just hoping someone here can help with these things.

    1. difference between a wad installer or a wad manager
    2. if i want to install a wad manager do i need to put that trucha bug back in place?
    3. if the bug is back in place can i then use the disc drive with content on them?
    4. how to actually install wad files (homebrew or anything else)

any help on any of this will be much appreciated.
and hopefully will also help out others who's wondering the same things.

Evidently the vast amounts of posts and guides you have looked through, were not part of this site.

You need to be softmodded. Simply installing homebrew channel is not enough to make backups work, and we have a guides section that will explain the whole process.
Believe me, you are thinking way too deeply, and just need to follow an actual guide.

    thank you

wow hacker thanks very much for the reply you have been most helpful

To the guy who posted the first reply any chance you could point me into the right guide then on this site?

See other guides the one i have been following most to learn is mostly about the trucha bug
it states that without this bug being back into place you cannot do any of the following

Without your FakeSigned IOS36, you cannot do a lot of stuff, like:

Using WAD manager to install unofficial content.
Installing a cIOS (needed for backup loaders).
Patch your system menu IOS (simple update) to play VC/WW games that are installed with WAD manager from the SD card menu!
Install Priiloader for Brick protection / Hacks

Which makes me wonder because i never seen anyone else talking about failing to install any kind of wad manager on 4.3e
so does these wad managers or this MMM as stated above create this faked IOS36? or does all IOS loaders do this automatically.

more help suggestions or points in the right direcection would and is appreciated.

Start by looking here WiiHacks Tutorials

@mkhacker - You would have installed a fakesigned ios (Trucha) to install any wads.
You probably didn't realise it when you followed the modding guide...

thanks for the help guys, i just bit the bullet and followed a guide here to the letter and everything worked out very well indeed
so now my wii is fully modded and up-to date i just have to learn now how to tinker around with it and hopefully not break anything

i do have a quick quesiton hope you can point me to the right thread of topic there is that many but most are about using usb loaders
to install wads homebrew games or backups, since i am only after testing things out is there any help threads on putting like 1 homebrew wad game
onto a SD card and playing it? that is if there is homebrew wad games available if not then guess going to have to really look into rawdumping a game disc i own.

any further help would be appreciated

    How to install a wad:

    1. Make sure that you own the game first! (else it's illegal). If the wad us homebrew, then this doesn't matter.

    2. Download the wad on your PC and put it in the /wad folder on your SD card/USB.

    3. Use a wad manager such as multi mod manager to install the wad. (if you don't have MMM, download it and place it in the /apps folder)

    4. Your wad is now installed!

    ALTERNATIVE METHOD FOR SOME HOMEBREW

    1. Use the homebrew browser (if you don't have it, download it and put it in the /apps folder) to search for and download a homebrew app.

    Enjoy!

For some reason I don't think how to install a wad is a rare question. If you follow the softmod any Wii guide you know how to install a wad. Just make sure the wads you install are from a reliable source. And homebrew games are not wads, they are installed like apps.
