WBFS Drvie not recognized after adding and deleting games

    Hello,

I have a 64gb lexar thumbdrive that has been working fine with USB Loader GX.
I added some more games to it and deleted some games from it using WBFS Manager 3 .0 and
    Wii Backup Manager software.
After adding and deleting games from it USB Loader GX will no longer initialize the drive.
I have another thumbdrive with other games on it that still works fine.
So I am thinking that somehow the formatting got screwed on the lexar drive
    while adding and deleting games.
Is there a fix for this?
Is there a way to fix the boot record/ disc.info without loosing all the games I got on there?

    Thank You!
    B

I'm quite certain a WBFS filesystem cannot be repaired. That is one of the many reasons no one uses WBFS anymore.
If you're using a flash drive you should format it to FAT32 and re-rip your games.

Wii: Mario Kart Wii Bundle (Black, 4.3U), SM: 4.1U, HBC: v1.0.8,
    cIOS: d2x v8 beta (r41), Priiloader: Priiloader v0.7, SDHC: SanDisk Ultra 16GB Class 6,
USB HDD: Seagate Expansion 500GB (ST905004EXA101-RK), Loader: USB Loader GX r1147

I mostly agree, but you don't have to re-rip your games. If you have the ISOs (or use WBFS Manager to extract them), you can use an app like Wii Backup Manager to convert them to .wbfs files that will be picked up by your loader as long as it's on a "wbfs" folder on the root of your drive.

If the filesystem is corrupted he more than likely cannot extract them using WBFS manager, even if he could, I would not trust those extracted.

I agree with G4Oblivion, format your drive to FAT32 and put the games on it following his instructions.

    Good luck!

Also, only consider ripping the games from your USB if you don't have backups somewhere on your computer. But this will probably lead to epic failure and, sadly, you'll have to re-download the games

    Thanks for the input everyone.

I have tried just about everything.
This 64gb Lexas Jumpdrive is supposedly compatible per the wii compatible list.
And obviousely it was until it crapped out on me.
I have tried just about everything I can find.
I have tried reformating in WBFS, FAT32(wbfs folder) and NTFS(iso).
I have tried different formating techniques for each, lastly using RMPrepUSB.
I have tried using Lexar BootIt to flip the removable bit.
    Nothing works.
It just won't see the drive anymore.
    This blows.
I just purchased this drive specifically for the Wii.

    So I got a question..
I am only installing one game to test...
If that game was corrupt would it not mount?
    or
Would it mount but not show any games?

The game I am using was working before....
    Hmmm...
I know the next thing I need to try....
Like mentioned earlier...all my games might be corrupted.
OMG it makes me sick to say that.
I have another usb that works fine so I could transfer a game over from that one.
I am hesistant cause I dont want to plug that usb back into my comp for fear it might
    get corrupted.

Would it mount the USB if the drive was formatted as WBFS with no games on it?
I tried this and it didn't mount...just wondering if it should
because then I could eliminate the corrupted game factor.

    Crap.

Maybe your usb loader gx is hosed? Try a fresh v70 of cfg loader and see if you get anything different.

FWIW, I quick formatted a USB key that previously worked as fat32 as WBFS, didn't put any games on it. Both usb loader gx and cfg loader picked it up and just didn't list any games.

Thanks for checking that for me!

I copied a game over from the good usb to a fresh format of WBFS.
WBFS is what was working before...
    And same deal...won't see it.
I think something crapped out in the USB drive.
It works fine on a win comp still, but for whatever reason it just stopped working on the Wii.
    Thanks for your help guys.
I think I will just have to get another drive.
I guess that is why it was so cheap on EBAY huh? (rhetorical)
    :-) :-(

I don't think your USB is not working as if windows picks it up then it is ok.

Have you tried updating your USB loader? This can solve some issues.

Also, you're using the correct slot on your wii, right? Just to check, try the other one.

If there are no games on it, your USB should still be picked up but no games will be shown.

I guess you can try buying another USB if you want, but it just doesn't seem right to assume your USB is not working as windows still recognizes it.

Let me know about your USB loader (of it updates) and which slot you are using.

    isoguy,

    Thanks for replying.
I use the usb port closest to the feet (closest to the edge).

I agree it doesnt make sense.

I had this lexar stick and my sandisk stick working at the same on the
USB Loader GX version I currently have with no problems.

I had changed no settings, upgrades etc...
Only thing that happend was I took the lexar and removed some games from it
and added some games to it using WBFS Manager and Wii Backup Manager.
The same programs I used to setup both usb sticks intitially.

After that I went to try out the new games i loaded and USB Loader no longer sees the lexar.

I will try and see if there is an update available for USB Loader GX tomorrow.
If there hasnt been a new rev released in the last two weeks I probably have the latest.

Something I noticed is when I put in the sandisk stick its light glows and pulsates continuously
even when not in use. However, the lexar just blinks a couple times after plugging it in and then
never comes back on. I dont know if that really means anything, but its an observation.

Believe me I dont want to purchase another stick.
However, I am scared to go messing around with my soft mods that are working for my sandisk stick though.

I did try doing a fresh FAT32 format with no games on it (just empty wbfs folder) and wii still didnt see it.
I am pretty sure I did a fresh WBFS format with nothing on it as well. (I tried so many things I lose track.)

    Thanks,
    B
